Will Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's Careers Flourish

As the curtain closes on their Twilight careers, the question remains whether or not Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson will continue their box office domination or even come close to it.

While it's impossible to know how well their future films will fair both at the box office and critically we can look back at their previous roles outside of Twilight.

Judging Them as Actors, Not Sex Symbols

Stewart's first major role outside of the vampire world was Adventureland. This 2009 dramedy won positive reviews, and in Stewart, starred one of the newest, most popular actresses in Hollywood. It would seem like a recipe for success. Only the film was a box office dud, making less than $20 million domestically. At least the critics loved Kristen.

Roger Ebert had this to say about Stewart's performance: "What surprised me was how much I admired Kristen Stewart, who in Twilight, was playing below her grade level. Here is an actress ready to do important things."

She had proved to the world that she could hold her own on screen, without all the fake blood, make-up and a dreamy Robert Pattinson by her side. What she wasn't able to prove was that she could carry a non-Twilight film to box office gold. Or even silver. $20 million is less than Breaking Dawn will make in one day.

But what about Pattinson? In 2010's Remember Me, the British hunk starred as a moody New Yorker. It failed to wow critics, but managed to bring in a very respectable $56 million at the box office. Did people flock to the theater just because R-Patz was in the movie?

They certainly showed up in hordes to get his autograph. But then came Water for Elephants, based on the extremely popular novel by the same name. Compared to Remember Me, this film had a pretty big budget ($38 million), so making around $100 million worldwide wasn't the largest of splashes, but it was impressive when compared with Stewart's numbers. Then again, when you throw in the cost of having the elephant show up at all your press events... who knows how much they really made.

Their Future

Pattinson is well aware of how big the transition away from Twilight will be. As he explained to the Chicago Sun-Times: "It does feel like a breakup. I do love the guy — and I’m going to miss him. I prefer to think of ending this franchise like leaving school. It’s the last day of high school.” It's nice of Pattinson to make that analogy since most of his fans are high school kids anyway.

The Brit just started production on his newest flick, Cosmopolis, a David Cronenberg film that was also based on a book (shocking, we know). There's no way to know how this movie, in its inchoate stages, will develop. But what we do know is that it's given time for Pattinson and Stewart to get cozy together in Toronto while he films in the Canadian city.

Stewart just wrapped up production on the film adaptation of Jack Kerouac's classic novel, On the Road. Again, she'll be starring in a movie based on an immensely popular (and in this case, iconic) book. Though it's not the type of film we see making boatloads of money, it should give her plenty of room to flex her acting muscle. Stewart's also set to play the fairest of them all in Snow White and the Hunstman, set to hit theaters in July 2012. And that film has summer blockbuster written all over it.

Neither Pattinson nor Stewart have had the kind of success at the box office that their mega-franchise Twighlight has. But perhaps it's wrong to assume they were directly responsible for turning the vampire goodness into gold. After all, the saga had a deep-rooted and fanatic fanbase before it even came to the big screen, just like Harry Potter before it.

That said, their popularity and stardom is unquestionable, which explains why they continue to get hired on for new roles despite their relative inability to draw in the crowds when they aren't sharing the screen. Maybe the only real solution down the line is to just cast them together from now on. Or maybe we're just too excited for Breaking Dawn to think straight.

Lady Gaga's The Edge of Glory

Leave it to Lady Gaga to hit No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 without really trying.

A few weeks ago, Gaga released the anthemic number "The Edge of Glory" as a promotional single to pump fans up over the release of Born This Way, her second full-length studio album. But the track proved so popular the powers that be released it as the third official single from the album and it subsequently debuted in the top 3. Because Gaga's got it like that.

So what is it about this track that people love so much?

Well, "Edge of Glory" epitomizes the Springsteen-esque power balladry that pops up all over Born This Way, with a familiar belt-it-out chorus that'll find favor with anyone who loved listening to the radio late '80s. It even features a saxophone solo by Clarence Clemons of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band............

The subject of continued attacks by conservative and anti-gay commentators, Fox musical dramedy "Glee" got a vocal defense from the President of GLAAD, Jarrett Barrios, on Friday.

"Fair-minded Americans are tuning in by the millions to inclusive shows like 'Glee' and 'Modern Family' because they don’t care whether someone is straight or gay – what they care about is seeing characters and stories they can relate to," Barrios told The Hollywood Reporter.

Atlas Shrugged

A review of Atlas Shrugged Part 1, a film by John Aglialoro and Harmon Kaslow, screenplay by Brian Patrick O'Toole and John Aglialoro, directed by Paul Johnasson, based on the novel by Ayn Rand. Opens April 15, 2011. 102 minutes. PG-13. Limited release.

After decades of fruitless efforts to bring Ayn Rand's epic novel Atlas Shrugged to the silver screen, the project has finally come to fruition with the first of three installments set to open on tax day 2011, a symbolic date for libertarians and assorted other champions of liberty. With a mere fraction of a Hollywood blockbuster budget of only $10 million the producers who gambled their own money and time, John Aglialoro and Harmon Kaslow respectively, have produced a film that even the most ardent Randian would agree was true to both the author's words and ideas. But is it a film that will drive the uninitiated to Rand's novel and philosophy? Hard to say, although the million plus downloads of the film's trailer on YouTube and the 700+ self-made videos by fans proclaiming "I am John Galt" are indicators that, blockbuster or not, Atlas -- the Greek god who bore the weight of the world on his shoulders -- is not yet shrugging.

Eva Longoria Talks 'Heartbreaking' Divorce From Tony Parker

Eva Longoria opened up about her divorce from NBA star Tony Parker for the first time Thursday night, breaking into tears when CNN’s Piers Morgan quizzed her about their public split.

“It was heartbreaking,” she said. “I think it was disappointing because I had such an identity in being Mrs. Parker and being a wife, and when that’s taken away from you, you go ‘Who am I?’”

Longoria filed for divorce in November 2010, amidst reports that her ex-husband was caught “sexting” with a former teammate’s wife. Since their split was finalized in January 2011, Longoria has been spotted canoodling with her new boyfriend, Penelope Cruz's 25-year-old brother Eduardo Cruz.

Despite the “humiliating” nature of their split, Longoria refused to talk ill of her former hubby.

“You know, he’s not a bad person, he just wanted something else. I don’t hate him for it, I really don’t,” she said. “I would never speak publicly about what happened or why we got divorced because I love him and we still talk, we are still in each other’s lives.”

Since their divorce, Longoria and Parker have been seen together several times, an act that “takes

Sofia Vergara

Sofia Vergara brings the laughs in "Modern Family," and now she's on the verge of going comedy old school.

Variety reports that Vergara is in talks for a starring role in the Farrelly Brothers' big screen remake/adaptation of "The Three Stooges." According to The Hollywood Reporter, she's expected to soon be handed the offer to play "a devious woman who pretends to be the wife of a dying man and tells the Stooges she'll pay them a handsome sum if they kill the man in his sleep."

Vergara is in discussions to join a cast that already includes Will Sasso as Curly and Sean Hayes as Larry. The film, which has been stuck in development for years, has seen a long line of casting rumors and changes. It was originally slated to star Brad Pitt, Jim Carrey and Benicio del Toro, though that eventually fell apart. Then Andy Samberg and Johnny Knoxville were rumored to be up for roles, but that eventually ended up passing, as well.

The "Modern Family" star will have two turns on the big screen in 2011, starring in the live action/CGI hybrid, "The Smurfs," as well as the star-studded romantic comedy, "New Year's Eve."

Most recently, Vergara, the new face of Diet Pepsi Skinny, has been spotted filming beach-set commercials for the brand.

Jennifer Garner To Star In Young Reboot

This beloved classic is getting a facelift. Quite literally.

Disney has closed a deal for a big screen reboot of Agatha Christie's "Miss Marple" mystery novel series, and the House of Mouse is making substantial changes to the story. Deadline reports that, instead of the British grandma Jane Marple portrayed in the books and in previous big screen incarnations, the film series will instead feature a young, far more svelte amateur sleuth, to be played by Jennifer Garner.

Garner, of course, has plenty of screen experience when it comes to solving mysteries, starring in the longrunning TV spy show, "Alias." This will be a bit different; the novels, 12 in all, were written from the 1930-70's. Whether the films will stay in that considerable span of time, or be brought up to date has yet to be announced.

Marple has been played by a number of notable actors, both on TV and the big screen. The first films starred Margaret Rutherford, while Angela Landsbury took on the role in the star-studded "The Mirror Crack'd," which included Tony Curtis and Elizabeth Taylor.

As of now, the single may be scheduled to come out sometime in the summer. Hopefully for fans, no more controversy comes up first.
