Snoop Dogg's Wife Cited For DUI

Fullerton police pulled over Shante Brodus, 32, at about 12:15 a.m. The wife of rapper Snoop Dogg was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence early Saturday morning in Orange County, Calif.

Lt. Craig Brower said that he had no information other than that there were no passengers involved. Brodus was taken to jail where she was booked, photographed and released pending her court appearance.

Brodus met Snoop Dogg in high school, and the pair have been married for over ten years. They have three children together. Snoop Dogg filed for divorce in 2004, but they later reconciled. Brodus has also co-starred on the E! reality show Snoop Dogg's Father Hood.

Hogan's Wife Wants Him Jailed

Hulk Hogan's estranged wife wants a Florida judge to hold the wrestler in contempt for not paying his share of a $4.2 million Las Vegas condo.

Linda Bollea is asking that the court hold Hogan in contempt of court and jailed until he pays. A court order requires them to share the purchase of the condo at The Palms hotel and spa.

Bollea asked the court that Hogan be jailed in Pinellas County, the same prison where their son is serving eight-months after pleading no contest to a crash that seriously injured his friend.

Accused child molester contacts Nick Hogan

TMZ.com has reported that 29-year-old former Florida teacher Stephanie Ragusa tried to contact Hulk Hogan's son, 17-year-old Nick Bollea, in prison.

Ragusa made headlines after she was charged with having sexual relations with her students. She has pled not guilty to having sex with several teenagers who attended the local middle school where she taught.

She is currently awaiting trial in jail and has been barred from contacting any of the teens involved in her case.

In her letter to Bollea, who is in jail for his involvement in a near-fatal car accident that left his best friend permanently injured, Ragusa told the teen he is "not alone." She said she sympathizes with the public nature of his situation, as well.

".. For what it is worth, I can sympathize with the dynamics of your case, esp. in light of the public. It's not us, Nick, but something 'off' with society, that our situations garner more attention & print than the President, the election, or even an earthquake killing thousands," she wrote. "Nothing prepares you for it nor prevents it; sensationalism."

According to TMZ, police said the letter was intercepted before it reached Bollea; however, he did receive a copy eventually.

One is the Loneliest Number for Hulk Hogan's Son

Nick Bollea, son of wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, is not too happy with solitary confinement. The 17-year-old's lawyers said in a motion filed Friday that the isolation is causing him "unbearable anxiety."

He spends up to 17 hours a day alone in his cell, and does not have access to amenities like educational programs.

Bollea is being held in solitary confinement in Pinellas County Jail's medical ward because he is too young to be in main holding. He is serving eight months after pleading no contest to reckless driving and causing a crash that seriously injured his friend.

His lawyers asked the judge to consider alternatives to isolation such as releasing him with ankle monitoring until he turns 18, or placing him in minimum security.

Gary Dourdan makes plea deal, avoids jail

Former 'CSI' star Gary Dourdan, 41, pled guilty to two out of his three counts of felony drug possession - one count each of Ecstasy and cocaine possession, and one count of heroin possession was dismissed - this morning, but he avoided having to serve any jail time.

"Once Gary completes 30 hours of a diversion program, his case will be entirely dismissed," lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley told The Associated Press in an e-mail. "There is no jail time involved."

Although the actor faced up to three years and eight months in prison, he will only have to complete the court's diversion program, which entails the completion of a series of drug-education courses. He has until Nov. 20, 2009 to finish his part of the plea agreement, and then the convictions may be dismissed.

"As a result of today's proceedings, Gary has been given diversion," Holly said outside the courthouse. "He very much regrets what happened, and he's very embarrassed by what occurred, but he's looking forward to moving on and getting back to work.

"He is very grateful to the court for being understanding and giving him an opportunity to resolve the issue and move forward."

Ingrid Wyatt, spokeswoman for the Riverside District Attorney's office, told E! News that Dourdan will also have to pay a small fee as part of his restitution.

Dourdan was present for the Indio, Calif. hearing, although he did not speak to reporters. He was arrested April 28 in Palm Springs after police found him sleeping in his car, which was parked on the wrong side of the road with the interior light on.

The actor was charged with felony possession of heroin, cocaie and Ecstasy following a search of his vehicle, and he was released on $5,000 bail. Shortly thereafter, Dourdan denied the drugs were his.

The long-time 'CSI' star also opted not to renew his contract for the popular show. His character, Warrick Brown, was killed on the season finale.

Wesley Snipes is sentenced to three years in prison

Action actor Wesley Snipes has been sentenced to three years in prison by a federal judge this afternoon.

In February, the Blade movie star was found guilty of failing to file tax returns from 1999-2001. The actor owed 2.7 Million and was given the maximum sentence under the law.

Snipes’ lawyers tried to argue for leniency and claimed that the star only owed $4000,000 and that the government’s sentencing guidelines weren’t fair.

Although Snipes was acquitted on the felony charges of filing false claims and fraud, the prosecutors pushed to harshly punish Snipes in the misguided hope that such a high-profile case would discourage tax fraud in the future.

Snipes’ co-defendant, who I am assuming are his accountants, were convicted of felony fraud and conspiracy and were sentenced to up to 10 years in prison.

Another Hilton Arrested

Paris Hilton’s 18-year-old younger brother Barron was arrested Tuesday morning for driving under the influence. He blew in a BAC at a reading of .14 which is almost twice as much as much as California’s legal limit of .08. However, for those under 21 a BAC of any level is considered legally drunk.

Hilton was also arrested for carrying a fake California driver’s license. He faces a one year license suspension for being under age with a DUI and could, in fact, go to jail. However, first time offenders, and of course children of wealthy parents, often only receive probation. I guess only time will tell if he will follow in the steps of his big sis'and end up behind bars.

David Letterman apologizes to Paris

Remember when Paris Hilton visited David Letterman after her jail stint in September?

Well, during her appearance on the show on Friday, he apologized for badgering her about her time behind bars.

"We have a lovely woman who's been in prison," Letterman said about his behavior during her previous visit. "I put those two things together and my head starts spinning."

"I continued to press the point," Letterman said. "I thought I was hilarious." The next day, he recalled, people told him, "No, you were an ass."

Paris, who stated during the September visit that he was hurting her feelings, supposedly vowed to never return. Letterman wrote her a letter, sent her flowers and cajoled her into coming yesterday to promote her film, "The Hottie and the Nottie."

"I offended you. I'm not here to make enemies, honestly," Letterman told Hilton on Friday. "I'm terribly sorry."

"Yes," Hilton, replied. "And you better not try it again. I hope you got the jail thing out of your system."

An over zealous fan snapped some shots of singer R. Kelly at his trial and landed herself in jail. Jean Johnson, used her cell phone camera to snap pictures inside the court room, which is considered contempt of court. She was sentenced to five days.

Rodriguez to spend Christmas in jail

Lost star Michelle Rodriguez checked herself into Lynwood Jail yesterday afternoon to begin serving her mandatory 180 day sentence for violating her probation. Her probation violation stems from failure to show completion of community service and consuming alcohol three time while wearing an alcohol monitoring anklet. You may remember Lynwood Jail, because it is also the same place that Paris Hilton served her brief time.

Lindsay serves 84 min. in jail

Lindsey Lohan reportedly checked into Lynwood jail on Thursday to serve time related to her two DUI cases. As part of her plea deal, Lohan was sentenced to a minimum of 24 hours behind bars - but the star was in and out in 84 minutes.

According to jail policy, as a non-violent offender, Lohan was released early because of overcrowding. She turned herself in at 10:30 a.m. and left at 11:54 a.m.

"Ms. Lohan was cooperative," said sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore. "She was fingerprinted, photographed and put in a holding cell, but was let go due to our early release policy."

Lohan was originally sentenced in August to 4 days in jail, but prosecuters allowed her to substitute 10 days of community service for 2 days behind bars. She was also awarded one day of credit for the time she spent in jail following her July arrest.

The 21-year-old began her community service on Monday, volunteering at an American Red Cross in a Los Angeles suburb.

'The Hills' Wahler serves time

Jason Wahler of MTV's 'The Hills' and 'Laguna Beach' is serving 30 days behind bars for assault and underage public drunkenness.

The reality star reported to a jail on Thursday in Issaquah, Washington.

Ruth Bowman, spokeswoman for the Seattle City Attorney’s Office, told People magazine he "could get out in 20 days for good behavior."

Wahler, whose additional charge of criminal trespassing was dropped, recently completed a stay in rehab.

'24' star faces DUI-related jail time

Kiefer Sutherland is the latest celebrity to have a run-in with the law.

Sutherland faces jail time after being charged Friday with misdemeanor DUI. The '24' star had a blood alcohol level of .08 or above, and he was already on probation following an arrest for drunken driving in 2004. He also was arrested in 1993 for alcohol-related reckless driving.

Los Angeles attorney spokesman Nick Velasquez said Sutherland faces between four days and a year in jail if convicted of the DUI. He may also be found guilty of violating his probation from the 2004 charge, which would tack an additional six months on to his sentence.

Los Angeles police said they stopped Sutherland after he made an illegal U-turn when leaving a party at Area nightclub. He failed a field sobriety test and was arrested and then released on $25,000 bail.

Sutherland's arraignment is October 16, although he is not required to attend.

Britney charged in August accident

Britney Spears was charged with several counts on Friday stemming from her August 6 accident in a Studio City parking lot.

Prosecuters charged Spears with misdemeanor counts of hit and run and driving without a valid license. The singer could face six months in jail and up to $1,000 in fines for each count if she is found guilty, said Nick Velasquez, spokesman for the Los Angeles attorney’s office.

Paparazzi video shows Spears steering into a parked car, then examining the damage to her own car and walking away. Three days later Kim Robard-Rifkin, the owner of the other vehicle, saw the video on TMZ.com and filed a police report.

"I simply want my car fixed, the same as I would fix somebody’s car if I had done that," Robard-Rifkin told TMZ in August. She said she had expected to hear from Spears' camp about repairs but never did.

Spears' arraignment is October 10.

Country Star in the Big House

Country singer Mindy McCready was sentenced to one year in jail for violating her probation. The singer was arrested in July stemming from a domestic dispute with her mother. The singer was previously placed on three years probabion for perscription drug fraud. McCreday attempted to reason with the judge at her hearing by saying she was going to try to make thing right, but the judge was not willing to give her another chance.

Party girls in pinstripes

You know something's wrong with the justice system when Paris Hilton serves 23 days in jail for driving on a suspended license, but Lindsay Lohan is only sentenced to 1 day for DUI and drug charges.

Not to be outdone, though, is Nicole Richie, who was sentenced to 90 hours for driving under the influence of drugs but was in and out in 82 minutes. The pregnant celebutante checked into a jail in Lynwood County, Calif. (the same place Hilton served her time) at 3:15 Thursday afternoon, and she was released by 4:37. In a statement, the sheriff's department noted that those charged with 30 days or fewer for nonviolent crimes are usually released in 12 hours due to overcrowding. There was no explanation as to why Richie didn't even stay that long.

A few hours before Richie's big house stopover, Lindsay Lohan reached a plea deal for her 7 misdemeanor charges stemming from her 2 driving incidents. Lohan will serve 1 day in jail, do 10 days of community service, complete a drug treatment program, an 18-month alcohol education program, pay a hefty fine and participate in a 3-day coroner program where she'll visit a morgue and talk to victims of drunk drivers.

Lohan has until January 18, 2008 to complete the terms of her plea bargain, and if she violates her probation, she could face up to a year in jail for each DUI and cocaine charge, as well as 90 days for reckless driving. If she receives another DUI, she will be required to serve 120 days in prison.

In a statement released by publicist Leslie Sloane Zelnik, Lohan said she was ashamed of her actions. "I broke the law and today I took responsibility by pleading guilty to the charges in my case."

She blamed her actions on her addictions, for which she is being treated at Cirque Lodge in Utah - which will satisfy her plea bargain's mandatory completion of a drug treatment program. "It is clear to me that my life has become completely unmanageable because I am addicted to alcohol and drugs," Lohan admitted in the statement.

"I very much want to be healthy and gain control of my life and career and have asked for medical help in doing so. I am taking these steps to improve my life," she added. "Luckily, I am not alone in my daily struggle, and I know that people like me have succeeded. Maybe with time it will become easier. I hope so."

There's no word yet on when she will serve her prison sentence, but based on Nicole Richie's actual jail time, she'll probably show up and leave in 20 minutes.

Linds charged with 7 misdemeanors

Lindsay Lohan was charged with seven misdemeanors on Thursday stemming from a pair of traffic incidents from earlier in the summer.

She avoided felony charges of drug possession because tests indicated less than the necessary .05 grams of cocaine to warrant them.

Lohan was charged with two counts each of DUI, driving with a blood-alcohol level above .08 percent and being under the influence of cocaine, as well as one count of reckless driving.

In California, one DUI can result in a maximum 6 month prison stay and a $1,000 fine, and a second DUI could lead to up to a year in jail. She faced up to three years if she had been charged and convicted of drug possession.

It's hard to tell how much time, if any, Lohan will serve. Paris Hilton recently spent 23 days in jail after driving on a suspended license when on probation for an alcohol-related reckless driving charge, whereas Nicole Richie was only ordered to 4 days in prison for a DUI, to be completed by the end of September.

But Lohan also faces lawsuits from the second accident, in which she allegedly hijacked an occupied car in order to follow her former assistant in a high-speed chase. A passenger in the assistent's car sued for assault and negligence.

Nicole Richie Will Do Time

This is hardly a long sentence for the now pregnant starlet who was busted for her second DUI within four years. She is sentenced to serve 4 days in the LA County Jail; she received credit for a 5th day because she served 6 hours when she was first arrested. She will start serving her time on Sept. 28th. Richie and boyfriend Joel Madden are expecting the birth of their child sometime in January.

Paris Hilton: Free at Last!

Paris Hilton was released from Century Regional Detention Facility today at 12:15 am. The hotel heiress served 23 days of her 45 day sentence. Inside sources say she was released early due to good behavior. Upon leaving, she waved to the paparazzi, fans, and other onlookers before meeting up with her parents, Rick and Kathy Hilton. Paris will be on probation until March 2009, though according the LA City Attorney's office, she could complete probation in only 12 months if she volunteers to film a public service announcement and do considerable community service. Paris plans to start a fresh, new life after her jail release, which inlcudes her reaching out to her "sweet" jailmates and doing more charitable works. Who knows, Hilton could be the next Angelina Jolie in the next couple years!

Paris Back In Jail

"At no time did I approve the defendant being released from custody to her home on Kings Road," Judge Michale T. Sauer said. He was not happy with the press reports that Paris was going to "phone in" the 9:00 Friday, June 8 hearing either.
"I at no time condoned the actions of the sheriff and at no time told him I approved the actions," he said of the decision to release Hilton from jail after three days.

According to the AP: The decision by Sheriff Lee Baca to move Hilton chafed prosecutors and Judge Sauer, who spelled out during sentencing that Hilton was not allowed to serve house detention. California Attorney General Jerry Brown criticized the Sheriff's Department for letting Hilton out of jail, saying he believed she should serve out her sentence.

"It does hold up the system to ridicule when the powerful and the famous get special treatment," Brown told The Associated Press in an interview before testifying at a congressional hearing in Washington.

"I'm sure there's a lot of people who've seen their family members go to jail and have various ailments, physical and psychological, that didn't get them released," he said. "I'd say it's time for a course correction."

It looks like she may to face the full 45 days as well. I think they're being a little tough on her. I'm not sure that your average citizen would be facing the same punishment she's looking at, even with her prior behavior and/or stupidity. I think her soiree with a few dozen close friends at home last night didn't make her look any better either.

The Los Angeles County jail system is so overcrowded that attorneys and jail officials have said it is not unusual for nonviolent offenders like Hilton to be released after serving as little as 10 percent of their sentences.

I totally understand why all the presses have stopped for this update, and will continually throughout the weekend. After all, what could possibly be more importaint than this celebutard's sleeping arrangement?


BTW - Gen. Peter Pace will not retain his position as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff when his term ends in September, U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Friday.
