Ted Kennedy Dies

Senator Ted Kennedy passed away at the age of 77 on Tuesday night. He was at his home in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts when he lost his year-long battle with brain cancer. The brother of President John F. Kennedy and Senator Robert F. Kennedy, he was one of the most influential and longest-serving senators in U.S history, elected at the age of 30 in 1962. He was a huge advocate of health care reform, and President Obama recently awarded him the nation's highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

The Kennedy family stated, "We've lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives, but the inspiration of his faith, optimism, and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever. He loved this country and devoted his life to serving it."

'Dancing with the Stars' Judge Secretly Battles Cancer

65-year-old Len Goodman, best known for his position on the judging panel on 'Dancing with the Stars,' has revealed that he recently underwent surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in his prostate. Despite being diagnosed in March, Goodman decided to wait to get treatment until after filming was finished and declined to inform fellow judges or the show's producers.

Luckily, doctors felt that immediate surgery wasn't necessary, as Goodman's cancer was not yet advanced to a life-or-death situation. Therefore, he decided to stick it out as the show wrapped up and went in for treatment as soon as he returned home. Following his release from the hospital, the judge announced that he felt "right as rain." See you next season!

Farrah Fawcett's Condition Worsens

Charlie's Angels star Farrah Fawcett is once again in the hospital battling cancer. She was first diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006 and has currently been in the hospital for the last two weeks. She was supposed to return home at some point last week, but things changed and she is still there being treated for her condition.

A Catholic priest was summoned to deliver Farrah's last rites and her bedside is filled with family and friends.

The actress's longtime partner, Ryan O'Neal, wishes to marry Farrah as soon as she is strong enough. "I've asked her to marry me again and she's agreed" Ryan said.

Survivor winner Ethan Zohn has cancer

Survivor Africa winner Ethan Zohn has been diagnosed with cancer. Last month he was found to have a rare form of cancer called CD20-positive Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He began suffering from night sweats, itching and a swollen lymph node and was then tested and diagnosed. Zohn began chemotherapy last week and will soon lose his famous curly hair. "My hair is my identity," he said, but he plans to shave it off in the next few days.

Zohn lost a parent to cancer and he wants to battle the disease as an inspiration to others. As a Survivor winner, Zohn has shown that he is not one to give up easily and he calls his new fight with cancer "the ultimate game of Survivor."

Christina Applegate Cleared of Cancer

Wow, that was fast! After a scare at the beginning of the summer, Christina Applegate, 36, reported that she is completely clear of the breast cancer doctors detected.

“[I’m] absolutely 100 percent clear and clean,"she said. "They got everything out so I’m definitely not going to die from breast cancer.”

Good for you, Christina.

Tony Snow remembered

Former White House spokesman Tony Snow, who passed away from colon cancer at age 53 Saturday, has been remembered and mourned by those who knew him.

"I came to know Tony as a very smart and capable man," said President George W. Bush. "He had good values. He was an honest guy. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved to laugh. He loved his country and he loved his family."

Snow served both Bush and his father, George H.W. Bush, during their tenures in the White House. He was also a radio and television journalist and a Fox News commentator before and between his stints as spokesman.

His love of his job was evident when he announced his resignation from the job in Sept. 2007. "Everybody talks about what a horrible job it is to brief the press," he said. "I love these briefings!"

This job has been the most fun I have ever had, the most satisfying, fulfilling job," he said. "I am sorry I have got to leave it. But I have got to say it has been a real honor and pleasure to work with everybody in this room."

Shortly after his 2 a.m. death at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., Vice President Dick Cheney told Fox News Sunday that Snow was a one-of-a-kind press secretary.

"He had this rare combination of intelligence, of commitment and loyalty to the President that he was working for, but also this great love of going out behind that podium and doing battle with what in effect were his former colleagues," Cheney said. "And it was this capacity that he had to be unfailingly polite, to maintain good humor under the most trying of circumstances, and do it, I thought, better and more effectively than anybody I have ever seen in that post."

Fox News' top anchor, Bill O'Reilly, anchored a live special edition of The O'Reilly Factor Saturday evening.

"At first we sparred on the air, but we shared a traditional point of view, and a sense of how absurd life can be," said O'Reilly. "He was one of President Bush's best hires."

Fox's Greta Van Susteren, who knew Snow since the '80s, told People that Snow made things fun on the job.

"On my first day, when I showed up at FOX, it was daunting being new at a job," she said. Tony came in, he dropped his body in the couch across from me. He acted like we had been friends forever. He welcomed me."

Current White House press secretary Dana Perino said that Snow was very dedicated to his job.

"His briefings were usually about 50 minutes – mine average about 20," he said. "He just had the gift for gab and he would hold them in there and make them understand what the president was trying to do."

But Perino said Snow's main concern was his family.

"His dedication and love for [them] was so admirable," she added. "I remember when his wife turned 50, he spent a week or so and he wanted to buy 50 gifts. Some were little, like a candy bar or something, but he had them all individually wrapped and ready for her on her 50th birthday."

Snow is survived by his wife, Jill Ellen Walker, and their three children.

Does Paul Newman have cancer?

Although Paul Newman, 83, has side-stepped reports that he is gravely ill with cancer, his friend and longtime business associate confirmed the news.

Writer A.E. Hotchner, a founding partner in Newman's Own salad dressing company, told the Associatde Press Wednesday that Newman told him about his illness 18 months ago.

"Newman says he's doing nicely," the actor's Los Angeles spokesman, Jeff Sanderson, told media outlets on Tuesday. "He says he's doing nicely, and this is the statement I wanted to share with you, and that's what I have. I spoke to his office [in Connecticut]. This is the statement that came directly from him."

Rumors have circulated that Newman is being treated on an outpatient basis for lung cancer at Manhattan's Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. A facility spokeswoman told Reuters she had no information about whether he is a patient.

Newman retired from acting last year, telling Good Morning America, "I'm not able to work anymore... at the level that I would want to." He recently withdrew from his role as director of Connecticut Westport Country Playhouse's production of John Steinbeck's "Of Mice and Men" due to unspecified health issues.

Patrick Swayze is working again!

Patrick Swayze has been given medical clearance to start filming a television show for A&E. Swayze continues to battle pancreatic cancer and said he has been responding well to treatment.

According to People, filming for the police drama "The Beast" will start this summer in Chicago . The 55-year-old Swayze will play a veteran FBI agent who teaches his rookie partner, Australian actor Travis Fimmel, his unusual undercover crime-solving techniques.

"I have searched for quite a long time to find a character that is this multi-layered, unpredictable and downright entertaining, as well as a project this current and cutting edged," Swayze said in an A&E statement.

A scheduled premiere date for "The Beast" is early 2009.

Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March, and has been undergoing chemotherapy at Stanford University Medical Center. He will continue his treatment while filming the show.

Oscar winner Sydney Pollack dies

Oscar-winning director Sydney Pollack passed away Monday afternoon in his Pacific Palisades home in Los Angeles after a nine-month bout with cancer. According to his publicist, Leslee Dart, the 73-year-old Hollywood mainstay was surrounded by family at the time.

Also an occasional actor, Pollack's career reached its apex during the 1970s and 1980s. He achieved success with his gender-bending film "Tootsie" and the period drama "Out of Africa," and worked with some of Hollywood's best actors, including George Clooney.

"Sydney made the world a little better, movies a little better and even dinner a little better. A tip of the hat to a class act," Clooney said in a statement from his publicist.

"He'll be missed terribly," Clooney added.

Other A-list actors Pollack worked with include Sally Field and Paul Neman ("In Absence of Malice"), Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn ("The Interpretor"), Robert Mitchum ("The Yakuza"), Tom Cruise ("The Firm"), Robert Redford ("Three Days of the Condor" and "The Way We Were") and Barbra Streisand ("The Way We Were").

"Having the opportunity to know Sydney and work with him was a great gift in my life," Field said in a statement. "He was a good friend and a phenomenal director and I will cherish every moment that I ever spent with him."

In his later years, Pollack spent more time in front of the camera. He appeared in the films "Husbands and Wives," "The Player," "Death Becomes Her," "Eyes Wide Shut" and "Made of Honor." He also played Will's father on "Will & Grace" and made appearances on "The Sopranos," "Frasier" and "Mad About You."

Pollack is surved by his wife, Claire; two daughters, a brother and six grandchildren, according to MSNBC. His son Steven died in a 1993 plane crash.

Patrick Swayze's illness confirmed

Reports were circulating that Patrick Swayze was suffering from cancer. The star is indeed suffering from pancreatic cancer, as his publicist has confirmed this information . In a statement issued to TMZ.com his publicist states:

Actor Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and is currently undergoing treatment."

The statement continues, "Patrick's physician Dr. George Fisher states, 'Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.' Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects. The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family."
