R.I.P. Farrah Fawcett Passes Away at 62

Farrah Fawcett, one of the biggest sex symbols of the 1970s, died Thursday after battling cancer. She was 62. "After a long and brave battle with cancer, our beloved Farrah has passed away," longtime companion Ryan O'Neal said. "Although this is an extremely difficult time for her family and friends, we take comfort in the beautiful times that we shared with Farrah over the years and the knowledge that her life brought joy to so many people around the world."

Best known for role as Jill in TV's Charlie's Angels, she was also one of the top-selling poster beauties of all time. She left the Angels after one season, and won critical acclaim a few years later in for her performance as an abused wife in 1984's "The Burning Bed." "Farrah had courage, she had strength, and she had faith. And now she has peace as she rests with the real angels," co-star Jaclyn Smith said.

Fellow Angel Cheryl Ladd's statement added that "She was incredibly brave, and God will be welcoming her with open arms."

The beauty appeared in Playboy magazine at age 50, with a video feature as well. A UCLA Medical Center employee pleaded guilty in late 2008 to violating federal medical privacy law for commercial purposes for selling records of Farrah to the National Enquirer. Her struggle with the disease was officially recorded in the NBC television documentary "Farrah's Story."

Her on-again-off-again relationship with Ryan O'Neal was rekindled since she found that she had the disease, and he constantly by her side while going through the ordeal of treatment all over the world. Ryan asked her to marry him, and they had planned on a ceremony if she survived this visit to the hospital.

Born Feb. 2, 1947, in Corpus Christi, Texas, she was named Mary Farrah Leni Fawcett.

Farrah Fawcett's Condition Worsens

Charlie's Angels star Farrah Fawcett is once again in the hospital battling cancer. She was first diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006 and has currently been in the hospital for the last two weeks. She was supposed to return home at some point last week, but things changed and she is still there being treated for her condition.

A Catholic priest was summoned to deliver Farrah's last rites and her bedside is filled with family and friends.

The actress's longtime partner, Ryan O'Neal, wishes to marry Farrah as soon as she is strong enough. "I've asked her to marry me again and she's agreed" Ryan said.

Farrah Fawcett's Cancer Battle Caught On Camera

Farrah Fawcett's cancer battle is to be the subject of a U.S. TV news special next week (beg11May09).

The actress has been battling anal cancer, which recently spread to her liver, and has suffered complications from an unrelated medical procedure performed in Germany.

Her two-year fight has been captured on video by best pal Alana Stewart and now the footage will make up a two-hour special, called Farrah’s Story.

Fawcett's on/off partner Ryan O’Neal and her former Charlie’s Angels co-stars Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson will appear in the programme.

The actress says, "This film is very personal. At the time, I didn’t know if anybody would ever see it. But, at some point, the footage took on a life of its own and dictated that it be seen."

Farrah Fawcett Hospitalized

Farrah Fawcett is currently in a Los Angeles area hospital, it has been confirmed. The 62-year old actress, battling cancer, has been hospitalized since Thursday of last week. Fawcett has been fighting rectal cancer since her diagnosis in 2006. Though she was diagnosed free of cancer, the disease has returned. Reports of Fawcett's current status have gone from good to worse. Now comes word that her cancer has reportedly spread to her liver and things aren't looking very positive.

Producer Craig Nevius has confirmed that in 2007, scans showed that Fawcett's cancer had spread. "Not only had it recurred, it metastasized to her liver," Nevius told The Associated Press on Monday. Still, Nevius urges that the 'Charlie's Angels' legend is "not on death's door."

Things with her family aren't going so well. Her son Redmond O'Neal was arrested on drug charges on Sunday morning. The 24-year-old is back behind bars after police allegedly found him carrying narcotics at a jail in Castaic, Calif. He was arrested on two felony counts—suspicion of possession of narcotics and bringing narcotics into a jail—and is being held on $25,000 bail pending a Tuesday hearing. Smart, real smart.

Fawcett-O'Neal son pleads guilty to drug charges

Redmond O'Neal, 23, son of Ryan O'Neal and Farrah Fawcett (and Tatum O'Neal's half-brother), pled guilty to two counts of felony drug possesssion and one count of misdemeanor driving under the influence yesterday, Jane Robison of the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said.

A second DUI charge was tossed, per O'Neal's plea deal agreement that allowed him to avoid serving time behind bars.

Malibu Superior Court justice Lawrence J. Mira sentenced O'Neal to three years of probation and ordered him into drug rehabilitation until a July 9 hearing.

Afterwards, a court will determine if he can enter the state's drug-diversion program for the two felony counts. He was also ordered to pay $1,688 in restitution and fines for the DUI.

The charges stem from a Jan. 26 arrest when O'Neal was pulled over for speeding on the Pacific Coast Highway and heroin and crystal meth were found in his possession.

According to People, O'Neal has a history of drug abuse and went to rehab in 2004 to address his heroin addiction.

Former CHARLIE'S ANGELS star FARRAH FAWCETT's cancer has returned just three months after the actress was given the all-clear by doctors in February this year (07).

Medics reportedly discovered a new cancer outbreak during a routine check-up, but insiders state Fawcett will not have to undergo chemotherapy again.

Instead, according to US news show Extra, doctors will plant a seed-like device, which emits radiation, in the diseased area in an effort to kill off the cancer cells.
