Cheryl who? X Factor USA judge Nicole Scherzinger beams as she promotes her music in Paris

By Sarah Fitzmaurice

Cheryl who? X Factor USA judge Nicole Scherzinger was all smiles as she left a radio station in Paris earlier today

She is certainly making headlines around the globe after landing the coveted X Factor judging role replacing Cheryl Cole.

So it seems fitting that Nicole Scherzinger would want to wear a statement style of the moment and so she stepped out in an on-trend 70’s ensemble earlier today.

The former Pussycat Dolly donned a wide-brimmed black hat, a mesh strapless top and a pair of high-waisted flared jeans over platform shoes at a radio station in Paris earlier today.

And the retro look certainly hit the mark with the ensemble emphasising her slim waist and enviable curves.

Nicole has been enjoying her time in Paris this week after spending the weekend supporting boyfriend Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton in the Monaco Grand Prix.

She tweeted: ‘My french fans R so wonderful! ThankU 4 all the luv & support, it means so much 2 me! Ur love is killer! Xoxo’

Statement style: The singer evoked her inner 70s chick in a pair of high-waisted flared jeans a body-con strapless top and a wide brimmed hat

Nicole even got up close and personal with her fans outside her hotel in the French capital yesterday as she greeted a crowd of her young supporters with warm embraces.

But her loyal fans aren’t the only reason for the wide smile on Nicole’s face – her promotion from co-host to judge on the X Factor USA has no doubt left her ecstatic, not least because of the boost it will give to her growing solo career.

Hold on to your hat: Nicole couldn't wipe the smile from her face which will no doubt be down to her role as X Factor judge as much as the warm welcome she has received from her French fans

Meanwhile Cheryl, who has not returned to the UK version of the X Factor, has not been seen since returning to the UK after being sacked from the talent how.

Black Eyed Peas singer Will.i.am, who manages Cheryl Stateside, insisted the 27-year-old is not letting the situation get her down and is already making plans for the future.

Wild style: Nicole was seen leaving her hotel in Paris in this stretch asymmetrical dress with over-the-knee leopard print boots

Getting close: The singer was seen giving her young fans a warm embrace as she left for a promotional tour while in the French capital

He said: 'Cheryl always comes back stronger, and she always comes back bigger.

Cheryl has been through rougher things than this, so this is going to be no problem for her.'

Nicole Scherzinger makes the earth move in Right There video with 50 Cent

Climbing the walls: The sultry singer shows off her fancy footwork for the track from her album Killer Love

As a former Pussycat Doll and Dancing With The Stars champion, Nicole Scherzinger is something of an expert in the art of throwing moves.

The 32-year-old singer is seen exhibiting her fine skills in the video for Right There, the track chosen from her debut album Killer Love to launch her solo career in the U.S.

It was shot just two weeks ago on the streets of Downtown Los Angeles and now the finished product has arrived.

Sliding sidewalks: Nicole Scherzinger looks incredible in her new music video Right There, seen here dancing on a moving pavement in a stomach-revealing crop top

Nicole exudes confidence and sexiness in the video and, thanks to some computer trickery, she even manages to make the earth move, so to speak, as she performs on sliding pavements.

Rapper 50 Cent also features - however it is only thanks to some clever green screen technology that has resulted in them appearing in the same shot.

The rap artist, also known as Fiddy, was not actually there when Nicole filmed the video and his segments have clearly been recorded separately.

Nicole, who has been rumoured as a possible host for the U.S. X Factor, wears an array of sexy outfits throughout, including slinky harem pants and a cropped vest top which shows off her honed stomach to perfection.

Collaboration: 50 Cent also features with the two appearing together thanks to some clever green screen technology

While she might not have the Pussycat dolls for company anymore, she is accompanied by a throng of female backing dancers who join her for some street party jamming.

Speaking about her album to MTV News recently, Nicole promised her fans plenty of empowering tracks.

She has worked with hit producer RedOne on the project, who has also collaborated with the likes of Lady Gaga, as well as a host of other big name hit-makers including The-Dream.

Backing dancers: Nicole may not have the Pussycat Dolls for company anymore but she still instigates an all-girl party

Hot moves: Nicole is currently launching her solo career in the U.S.

Nicole said: 'Well, I did a lot of the album with my producer RedOne and then I did sprinkles, other colours of the album with producers like Jim Jonsin and The-Dream and Tricky Stewart and Ne-Yo and I'm fortunate enough to have my boy 50 [Cent] and Snoop on the album.'

'So it's definitely got empowering, strong dance anthems and then I got an urban twist in there and some really good uplifting songs as well.'

In a recent interview, Nicole said she is no longer in touch with her former Pussycat Dolls bandmates.

Nicole Scherzinger Isn't 'In Touch' with Former Pussycat Doll Bandmates

Nicole Scherzinger had a lot of fun with the Pussycat Dolls -- while the band lasted. Now that the PCD are no more, she's having a blast with her solo career.

The 32-year-old singer, who starred in the band with Ashley Roberts, Melody Thornton, Kimberley Wyatt and Jessica Sutta before leaving in 2010, feels “empowered” to have left the group and insists she feels “happy” for all her former bandmates.

She said: “A few of the girls left the group and I was like, ‘Am I the only Doll standing here?!’
“We’re not in touch. We’re all busy, and I’m happy for everyone. Once all the girls went off, I thought it was the perfect opportunity for me to go and to my music and what I love. It’s been liberating and amazing. It’s empowering to come into your own in that way.”

Nicole also confirmed the majority of her shelved debut solo album, which was initially intended for release in 2007, ended up on a Pussycat Dolls LP. She told Attitude magazine: “There just wasn’t the right timing before, but I was fortunate enough to be able to put a lot of those tracks on the next PCD album.”

Nicole Scherzinger Signs on to Host US 'X Factor'

Simon Cowell has reportedly signed up former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger to host his US version of The X Factor after negotiating a deal with Nicole's American label CAA to ensure she has a clear schedule when the series launches later in the year.

With the 32-year-old beauty originally tipped for a role on the judging panel of the US X Factor, her "natural" ability in front of the camera convinced the 51-year-old music mogul to offer her the coveted hosting job instead.

An insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Never has there been so much behind-the-scenes wheeling and dealing as with X Factor USA.

“Having lined up Nicole as a potential judge, Simon decided to try something different and unexpected, and have a non-mainstream presenter present.

"Nicole’s had screen tests and is a natural in front of the camera. Autocue does not faze her at all. As an established singer, both as a solo artist and in a group, Nicole will be great with the contestants and knows what she is talking about.

"The approach was made a few weeks ago. And although she has still not formally signed, it’s all looking very positive."

With Nicole having bagged the presenting job, Simon is still attempting to convince Fox bosses to sign up Cheryl Cole for the judging panel, amid concerns the singer is relatively unknown in the US.

The source added: "On the judging front, things are changing almost daily, but Simon has put his neck on the line to sell Cheryl to network bosses. After being stonewalled initially, Simon believes he has convinced them to sign off her deal."

Simon and record producer L.A. Reid are the only judges confirmed to appear on the panel so far, while Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Paula Abdul have all been linked to the two female roles.

Pussycat Dolls' Lewis grilling

Lewis Hamilton was interrogated by the Pussycat Dolls before he could date lead singer Nicole Scherzinger.

The sexy girl group wanted to make sure the 24-year-old Formula One racing driver was a "nice guy" and not "a playboy".

Melody Thornton, 24, said: "When we found out Lewis was a racing driver we were like, 'Hold on a minute, he better not be a playboy.'

"So we asked him all sorts. What were his intentions, if he was a nice guy, did he know how to treat her right, did he bring her flowers and pull out chairs on dates?

"We didn't mess about and gave him a tough time as we do with all new boyfriends. We are very protective of each other - especially when a new guy comes into the fold."

Lewis charmed the girls, by impressing them with his English accent and being the perfect gentleman.

Kimberly Wyatt, 26, told Britain's The Daily Mirror newspaper: "Lewis is so quiet and well mannered and he makes Nicole happy. We love the fact that he's British."

Nicole recently said she was happier than she has ever been, and is already planning her future with Lewis, who she has been dating since last February. She said: "We'd love to have beautiful angel babies together. We'd sing 'Don't Cha' to them. Lewis knows all the words."
