51st Annual Grammys - Best Awards Show In A Long Time!

The Grammy Awards, for the best songs of 2008, was one of the best I've seen in years. With M.I.A. singing on stage with Jay-Z, Kanye, Wayne and T.I, with her baby due any moment; Al Green and Justin Timberlake's last-minute teaming up to cover for a missing Chris Brown (tomorrow's headline I'm sure!); Ne-Yo, Jamie Foxx, Duke Fakir and Smokey Robinson doing the Four Tops; Stevie Wonder and the Jonas Brothers rocking a medley of Burning Up and Superstitious; Keith Urban, John Mayer
Sure, Katie Perry sounded a little better than terrible, but the weirdness of coming down from the ceiling in a sparkly giant banana made up for that. We needed a little tacky spectacle!
That girl can BOUNCE!
Kanye West reminded us that he never got a 'New Artist' Grammy, and for reasons I can't point my finger on, I'm still glad he didn't.
The varied collaborations were nothing less than genius!
Radiohead and the USC marching band; John Mayer, B.B. King, Buddy Guy and Keith Urban doing a li'l tribute to those who dies this year, including Bo Diddly; Lil Wayne, Allen Toussaint and Robin Thicke performed “Tie My Hands” together, dedicated to New Orleans..

Cher Wears Gerard for Grammys!!!

With multiple designers to choose her wardrobe from, Cher chose to wear a fitted piece from high-end designer Julia Gerard to accompany the rest of her evening collection. The match-up from top to bottom was flawless and Gerard's fitted skirt added an edgy rock n roll look to the overall classy and distinguishable pieces Cher had put together for the entire outfit.

Julia Gerard specializes in couture fashion centered on the peace movement. Gerard has managed to carve a niche in the Los Angeles fashion scene and has also captured the attention of the rest of the fashion world from Cher's appearance on the 50th annual Grammy Awards. The J Gerard Design Studio & Peace Gallery is located on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, CA.

Amy Winehouse's Sweeping Wins

Amy Winehouse rocked the Grammys on Sunday night with her five award wins and remote satellite performance of her autobiographical single “Rehab.” The troubled twenty-four-year-old singer seemed shocked when she was announced as the record of the year winner, and was immediately enveloped by friends and family.

Winehosue pulled in awards for best new artist, song of the year, pop vocal album, and remote pop vocal performance, and only lost the final prize of album of the year to Herbie Hancock’s jazz album “River: The Joni Letters.”

She told The Associated Press “I am so proud of this album, I put my heart and soul into it and it’s wicked to be recognized in this way. I feel truly honored to be mentioned in the same breath as many of the artists present tonight and to win is even more amazing!”

Go Amy! She seems like such a sweet girl, lets hope she stays on track in rehab.

Grammy Performances

Check out Amy Winehouse's performance of "You Know I'm No Good"/"Rehab." Winehouse performed via satellite because her visa was originally denied, and when it was finally approved, it was too late for her to make it to the show.

Winehouse won five Grammys for record and song of the year, best new artist, best female pop vocalist and best pop vocal album for her single "Rehab" and the album Back to Black.


Kanye West performed "Stronger" and, as a tribute to his deceased mother, "Hey Mama." He took home four awards for best rap album, best rap solo performance for "Stronger," best rap performance for "Southside" with Common and best rap/sung collaboration for "Good Life" with T-Pain.


Rihanna also performed her hits "Umbrella"/"Don't Stop the Music." The singer scored a Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration with Jay-Z for "Umbrella."


Carrie Underwood won two awards for "Before He Cheats," which she performed at the show. She won the categories of Female Country Vocal Performance and Country Song.
