Angelina Jolie Named Most Powerful Celebrity

Move over Oprah, Angelina Jolie is taking over as the world's most powerful celebrity. Forbes Magazine recently published its 100 most powerful celebrities list ranking Angelina Jolie as number one. Oprah had held the number one spot for the past two years. The list is made up of celebrities from TV, film, music, fashion, food and sports all ranked in order based on earnings and media exposure. Even though Oprah earned $275 million and Angelina earned just $27 million last year, Angelina beat Oprah due to her continuous appearances in magazines, TV, radio, newspaper and websites.

Oprah was knocked to number two, but the top five included big names such as Madonna, Beyonce and Tiger Woods. Obama also made the list at number 49, making him the first sitting head of state to make the list. Some newcomers to this years list were Taylor Swift, Toby Keith, and Alec Baldwin.

Forbes' Celebrity 100 List

Forbes released its Celebrity 100 list, a power ranking based on fame and earnings, and Oprah Winfrey was once again at the top. Despite her decline in TV ratings and magazine circulations, the household name earned $275 million (before taxes) in the last year alone.

Golfer Tiger Woods was second, followed by Angelina Jolie. Jolie and her partner Brad Pitt (No. 10) were just one of the couples in the Top 10. Beyoncé Knowles and her new husband, Jay-Z, were fourth and seventh respectively.

Some teen stars also made the list, led by Disney star Miley Cyrus. She was joined by Daniel Radcliffe of 'Harry Potter' fame, as well as Zac Efron and Ashley Tisdale of 'High School Musical,' and the pop trio the Jonas Brothers.

Johnny Depp was the highest-ranked actor on the list, at sixth place.

This year's power ranking also featured 27 newcomers. They included the band The Police, Steve Carell, Jon Stewart and Lauren Conrad.

Forbes announces World's Top-Earning Models


Forbes.com has released the 2008 list of the World's Top-Earning Models. The fifteen models on the list were selected and ranked by estimated earnings over the last year, although when necessary, prestige and relevancy of campaigns, editorials, fashion magazine covers and the opinion of industry insiders were also taken into consideration.

Gisele Bündchen still has a monopoly on the number one spot, with an estimated $35 million in earnings.

The top 5 is as follows.

1. Gisele Bündchen ($35 million)
2. Heidi Klum ($14 million)
3. Kate Moss ($7.5 million)
4. Adriana Lima ($7 million)
5. Doutzen Kroes ($6 million)

Others on the list were Victoria's Secret angels Miranda Kerr and Selita Ebanks, at Nos. 10 and 12, respectively.

Jay-Z Hip-Hop's Top Cash King


Forbes' new list of Hip-Hop Cash Kings has Jay-Z at the top for 2006. And the results were reportedly tallied before the music mogul sold his Rocawear fashion label for $204 million.

Sean "Jay-Z" Carter, the CEO of Def Jam Recordings, made $34 million from his 11th album, Kingdom Come. He also racked up the Benjamins from his 40/40 Club sports-bar franchise, as well as numerous endorsements and a small stake in the New Jersey Nets.

Curtis Jackson, better known as 50 Cent, came in second place despite not releasing an album last year. His estimated 2006 earnings were $32 million and the result of several ventures, including his G-unit label, clothing line and videogames.

Sean "Diddy" Combs came in third place with earnings of $28 million from his Bad Boy Worldwide Entertainment Group, although his reps told Forbes magazine the number is actually higher.

Fourth through sixth place were producer and rapper Timbaland, Dr. Dre and Eminem.
