Clint Eastwood's 'dysfunctional' love

Clint Eastwood loves his "dysfunctional family", despite having his seventh child at the age of 66.

The Oscar-winning director - who has seven children with four different women - has learned to accept his unusual private life.

Clint, who is married to journalist Dina Ruiz, said: "I love my dysfunctional family. Dina fell pregnant on our honeymoon. After a few weeks, she said she felt a little nausea.

"She asked me to stop at a gas station so she could buy one of those sticks. She came back and said, 'We're pregnant.' At least nobody stood there with a shotgun when we got married!"

Clint, now 78, also revealed he has no intention of retiring because he still has a huge amount of interest in the movie industry.

He added to Parade magazine: "I just ran into a guy a little younger than me. He says, 'I'm going to retire.' I say, 'Wait for me. Keep going.' Everybody in my generation, once you get in the seventh decade, they go, 'Well, what the hell. I'm on bonus time!' But no, I would never want to give it up. Never would."

Angelina Jolie's film hate

Angelina Jolie can't watch her own films.

The actress hates seeing herself on the big screen because she is so critical of her performance.

She said: "I never like to watch myself ever. I still haven't seen 'Wanted' - I heard it was fun. I feel like I did something right if I can watch something and feel removed enough."


The 33-year-old actor will soon be seen appearing in thriller 'Changeling', which was directed by Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood.

Angelina revealed working with Clint was "a dream" because he was always in control and she is hoping to team up with him in the future.

She told MTV: "I want to be directed by him again. I'm looking for a job!"

Clint is equally as enthusiastic about Angelina and even offered her a part in his new movie 'The Human Factor', which is based on former South African President Nelson Mandela's life around the time of the 1995 Rugby World Cup.

He jokingly asked Angelina: "Can you play Mandela?"

Clint Eastwood & Spike Lee battle again

Several weeks ago Spike Lee challenged reporters to ask Clint Eastwood about the lack of representation of black soldiers in his 2006 World War II epic, 'Flags of Our Fathers.'

"There were many African-Americans who survived that war and who were upset at Clint.... That was his version: the negro soldier did not exist," Lee said at the premiere of his new film, 'Miracle at St. Anna,' about an all-black infantry division that fought in Italy during WWII. "I have a different version."

Lee called Eastwood's casting a "conscious decision not to have any black people."

At first Eastwood refused to comment on Lee's accusations, but her later justified his choice of actors in an interview with Britain's Guardian newspaper. He said that the black soldiers who took part in the battle of Iwo Jima as part of a munitions company did not raise the American flag on Mount Suribachi.

"Has he ever studied the history? The story is 'Flags of Our Fathers,' the famous flag-raising picture, and they didn't do that," Eastwood said. "If I go ahead and put an African-American actor in there, people'd go: 'This guy's lost his mind.' I mean, it's not accurate."

The Oscar-winning director also suggested Lee "shut his face."

The acrimonious feud may have continued when Lee recently responded to Eastwood's comments.

"First of all, the man is not my father and we're not on a plantation either. He's a great director. He makes his films, I make my films," Lee said. "The thing about it though, I didn't personally attack him. And a comment like 'a guy like that should shut his face' - come on Clint, come on. He sounds like an angry old man right there.

"If he wishes, I could assemble African-American men who fought at Iwo Jima and I'd like him to tell these guys that what they did was insignificant and they did not exist," he added.

Lee said the one million African-American men and women who contributed during WWII have been ignored in the annals of Hollywood films.

"I never said he should show one of the other guys holding up the flag as black," Lee added. "I said that African-Americans played a significant part in Iwo Jima.

"For him to insinuate that I'm rewriting history and have one of the four guys with the flag be black ... no one said that. It's just that there's not one black in either film. And because I know my history, that's why I made that observation."

Cannes Film Festival wrap-up

The Cannes Film Festival wrapper up Sunday with the announcment of winners.

The top honor, the Palme d'Or, was awarded to the French film, 'The Class.'

'The Class' was directed by Laurent Cantet and was based on the real-life memoir of a teacher and her multicultural students in a Parisian school. Real students and teachers at a junior high school were used in filming the story, which unfolds over an entire school year.

Like jury foreman Sean Penn said at the opening day press conference, the jurors opted for a movie that dealt with contemporary social issues rather than art house or commercial flicks.

Also recognized were Benecio Del Toro, who won a Best Actor award for playing the title role in 'Che,' and Clint Eastwood, who whose 'Changeling' was well-received. The director was also was recognized with a special lifetime achievement award.

Cannes Film Festival Line-Up

Clint Eastwood's latest film will get top billing at the 61st Cannes International Film Festival next month. Clintwood directed The Changeling, a 1920s thriller starring Angelina Jolie as a woman whose son is kidnapped. John Malkovich and Amy Ryan also star.

The film festival will run from May 14-25 in southern France and will also include Wim Wenders' The Palermo Shooting and Steven Soderbergh's biopic of Cuban revolutionary Che Guevara.

The new Indiana Jones movie, Woody Allen's new romance and the animated Jack Black film Kung Fu Panda will be screened out of competition.

Stars rumored to be attending include Penelope Cruz, Woody Allen, Benicio Del Toro and the cast of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

The jury includes Sean Penn, Natalie Portman and former Harry Potter director Alfonso Cuaron. They will select the winner of the prestigious Palme d'Or prize.

Nineteen directors, including Eastwood, Soderbergh and Wenders, will be vying for the award.

Last year the Romanian abortion drama 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days was the winner.
