1. Trust one another.
It is not necessary that you ask him to text you every now and then. He doesn't have to inform you where he is off to. It would really tick him off. Think of it, does he need to text you when he is going to use the bathroom in the subway? I don't think so. You just need to give your 100% trust to him. You need to believe that he is not fooling around. Don't get paranoid when he fails to reply to your messages. He may be working. He may also be asleep considering that both of you have different time zones.
2. You need to constantly communicate with him.
Given this suggestion, you may be confused. You can communicate with him given that you don't call him every 30 minutes. Long distance calls are quite expensive. You just have to come up of other means to be able to get in touch with him. You have to thank technology now. You can be able to send emails or even chat with him online. If you need to see something visual, you can turn on the webcam installed in your laptop. Both of you can see each other and feel like as if you are both near. If you are constantly mobile, you can send him a text message saying that you miss him. Make it a point to keep in touch with him everyday.
3. Live your own life.
You don't have to constantly stay in front of your computer and wait for him to get online. You need to have your own life too. Get to your work. If you are gaining some weight, head to the gym. Hang out with your friends if it's your day off. You don't have to trap yourself in your own home. He doesn't want you to sulk in your room because you miss him. He wants you to grow as an individual and enjoy the life that you ought to have.
4. Surprise him.
If you can afford a trip to his place, book a ticket in any random day. You can surprise him by showing up in his doorstep. It would really make his day. If you can't afford to go all the way to his place, send him a package. You can send a hand-written card. You could also send little gifts like the candies he eats together with you. A deck of cards where all your faces are in it would be a great gift idea.
