Avril Lavigne Thrilled Rihanna Sampled her Song

The latest celebrity news about Avril Lavigne is that she will debut her brand new single during Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. But she can also be heard in sampled form on Rihanna’s new party song “Cheers (Drink to That),” which contains a snippet from Lavigne’s 2002 hit “I’m With You.”

Lavigne, famous for her hard-driving pop and punk princess fashion style, told Entertainment Weekly, “I think Rihanna's awesome, she has great songs, she's a really great singer, so yeah I was excited.” For her part, Rihanna told MTV News that “Cheers” is one of her favorite songs on her new album. Look for Lavigne’s new Album in March.

Avril Lavigne fires manager

Avril Lavigne has fired her manager and management company.

The 'Girlfriend' singer is said to be distraught that her latest album and tour proved less popular than her previous efforts, and blames Nettwerk mogul Terry McBride for her lack of success.

A source told gossip blogger Perez Hilton: "Avril is hoping that new management can help her new album be more successful than the last."

The 24-year-old - who is desperate to resurrect her career - has reportedly now signed a new deal with Irving Azoff and his management company, who look after Christina Aguilera and Guns N' Roses.

Meanwhile, Avril has prompted rumours she is expecting her first child with musician husband Deryck Whibley after she was seen refusing alcohol during a recent night out.

Avril - who recently sparked reports she could be pregnant after she was photographed with what appeared to be a baby bump - was spotted drinking only soft drinks at exclusive Hollywood night spot Coco De Ville.

Avril, wearing a loose jersey shirt, stuck close to Deryck throughout the evening, with the pair making a hasty exit when other partygoers recognised her.

Singer says she's very happy with Sum 41 frontman

Avril Lavigne has spoken out about rumours her marriage to rock singer Deryck Whibley is on the rocks.

US reports claimed the couple were drifting apart due to work commitments.

But Avril, 24, insists they're very happy together.

‘We’re best friends,’ she tells In Touch. ‘We have so much in common and get along all of the time. He makes me happy.’

Sum 41 frontman Deryck, 28, flew out to Asia earlier this year to support her on tour.

‘Deryck joined her for 2 months,’ a friend says. ‘He performed on stage with her every night and they sang her hit In Too Deep together.’

The couple - who wed 2 years ago - have been together for 4 years.
