Sherri Shepherd's Confessions

'The View' host Sherri Shepherd covers the latest issue of 'Precious Times' magazine. Seriously, the women on the View just get crazier and crazier. This is a really revealing look into the life of Sheperd.

In an eight-page feature story in the Christian women's lifestyle publication, the 41-year-old comedienne shares candid revelations about her faith, including her conversion from being a Jehovah's Witness to Christianity.

"Before I converted to Christianity, I was a Jehovah's Witness. In 1993, my mother was dying from diabetic complications. My sister was heavy into drugs, and we would have to go and get her from crack houses. I was in a very physically abusive relationship. I was sleeping with a lot of guys and had more abortions than I would like to count. I had very low self-esteem and just wanted to die. I felt if someone killed me, it wouldn't even make a difference. But God showed me that it would make a difference," she told the publication.

Geez, this is really deep stuff! Who knew that this was the past life of the current host?

Sherri Shepherd joins The View

In what Barbara Walters called "the worst-kept secret" on television, Sherri Shepherd joined The View for its 11th season. The 40-year-old actress and comedian was a guest host on the show on many occasions, particularly after auditioning for the seat Star Jones left vacant in 2006.

"I'm so excited," Shepherd said after making her entrance to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons' "Sherry" on Monday. "Oh, my God. I'm actually one of the girls. I'm here. And it's all good. I'm with all the ladies."

"The ladies" are Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and new moderator Whoopi Goldberg.
