Paula Abdul To Get Her Own Show?

Inside one day - inside hours of Paula Abdul's announcement that she's through on American Idol, giving up what seemed a big pay day and in spite of not earning as much as Simon or Ryan ...her knight in shining armor has arrived in the form of NBC. And if NBC doesn't work out, she has CBS in the wings.

According to Paul Telegdy NBC is interested in Paula and Telegdy is "absolutely" interested showcasing Paula in the NBC lineup. In a quote to the post, "Is it something I have given thought to? Yeah. I think she is a huge talent. America has huge affection for her. I don't have specifics about shows or show ideas."

Telegdy also revealed that he had talked to Paula Abdul prior to her quitting Idol stating she pitched shows "in her wheelhouse," i.e. dancing competitions.

So did Paula have this all planned out in advance? She did walk away from a salary that could drown a horse but in the face of Ryan Seacrest's and Simon Cowells greater income levels, she felt slighted and more deserving of a lesser pay. If she does score a show on NBC, will she reveal her new salary for Seacrest and Cowell to take notice of?

Whatever it is, it better work. Outside of American Idol Paula has come up empty. Her attempt to restart her music career flopped, her 2007 reality show on Bravo was an embarrassment, even her jewelry on Home Shopping Network failed to break out.
Meanwhile the National Enquirer has reported that Abdul has been in secret negotiations for her own talk show with CBS. Quoting an Enquirer source, "Paula's been dreaming about having her own talk show for three years, and she's ready to make it a reality."

If you think about it, day time talk is where Paula may land and should land. Her honest straight talk, and unpredictable nature would be a ratings winner for any broadcaster.

Paula Wants 20 Million - Does Idol Want Paula?

It's not even been two days since Paula Abdul's new agent (David Sonenberg) proclaimed Paula was offended by not being offered a new contract with the next season of Idol just around the bend.

What does he do? Asks for 20 million on behalf of Paula. It's a brazen and brave move to assume the position of power but is it really just bravado?

Sources close to Radar Online report that Idol producers have in fact offered Paula closer to half of what her agents demands. If this is true, then Sonenberg is really just after media attention and trying to drum up sympathy.

The only question there is now is this; do the producers of Idol want Paula back? If not, she's going to have mud on her face (and worse no job) thanks to her new agent. If Idol does want her back, it's just a question of what is she really worth to the show? Perhaps she should stop thinking about Seacreast's payday and concentrate on her own. Someone needs to remind her that we are indeed in a recession and I'd gladly take 10 million for sitting on a panel and judging wanna be pop stars.

Ryan Seacrest Gets a Hefty Pay Hike

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest has signed a new deal with the reality show that will make him the richest reality TV host. His three year contract will provide him with a hefty $15 million a year making his three year contract worth $45 million.

Under this new agreement, Seacrest will also be exclusive to CKX, parent of Idol producer 19 Entertainment, in broadcast TV primetime to host “Idol” or any CKX-produced show that might succeed it. He will also continue to be E! Entertainment's main anchor and continue to produce Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

The new deal more than triples Seacrest's previous salary which was formerly about $5 million a year.

Judge Simon Cowell is negotiating his new contract demanding about $100 million a year. American Idol is still working on the contracts for the other judges Randy Jackson, Paula Adbul and Kara DioGuardi.

Perez Hilton Takes Shot at Ryan Seacrest

Perez Hilton is scum. Yes I said it. Sunday he posted an unflattering photo of Ryan Seacrest when he was a tween. Glasses, braces the full boat of embarrassment.

Why did Perez post it? Because it's unflattering. His caption? "Ryan was such a cute little chubster!"

And why? Why post this? This is the problem with Hilton and the Press in general. They build you up so they can tear you down. Then do it all over again.
Here is my take on the photo. Good for him! The guy has already said he had image issues as a child and was shy and picked on. The guy took this battle on head first and look where he is now. He is picked on by others in the media for not having enough talent. OK.... and what is Perez Hilton's talent? He's no different than Seacrest except he stayed a chubster.

Shark Takes Nibble Out Of Ryan Seacrest (How Fitting! Because It's Shark Week!)

Ryan Seacrest was taking a swim in the Pacific Ocean in Mexico on Sunday when he was bitten by a shark, he said on his KIIS-FM radio show Monday.

The "American Idol" host said he was "about eight feet out" when he felt something swim by him. Oh my gosh, I would completely freak out in the water!

"I thought it was a stick," he said. "I wasn't sure what had happened." Then, he said, "I saw it swim! He took a bite, and he left." Seacrest, 33, said the shark's tooth "wasn't a great thing to find. It was like finding a splinter!" Although he said he was "in pain," the "American Idol" host wasn't hurt too badly, but said he "needed to take an Advil."

Asked by his radio co-host if anyone else was bitten, Seacrest said: "No, just me, of course! There were like 1,000 people in the ocean, and I get bit by the shark!" HaHa, he doesn't have the best luck, I suppose. He's got so much money, he can go out and buy a shark if he wanted.

Ryan Seacrest Bit By a Shark

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest is wishing he chose a pool over the ocean this weekend.

The radio and TV entertainer was bit by a shark in L.A., his rep confirmed to CelebTV.com.

“He got bit by a baby shark at the beach over the weekend. He was about 8 feet out when he felt the bite,” she said.

Seacrest is doing fine.

Other than that, said the rep, “We don’t have much detail.”

Cyrus family says Leibovitz is a paparazzo

According to Billy Ray Cyrus, he and his family consider famed photographer Annie Leibovitz a paparazzo. Leibovitz took the photos for the now-infamous Vanity Fair shoot where 15-year-old Miley Cyrus appeared semi-nude.

Cyrus told Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show that he was fishing in rural Tennessee with his eight-year-old daughter, Noah, recently. "I was catching these crawdads and all the sudden this paprazzi lady jumps out ... and starts snapping away," he said.

Noah turned to ask him, "Is that Annie Leibovitz?"

Miley Cyrus and her family were reportedly pleased with the photo shoot at the time and prior to the issue's publication. They have since backtracked on their praise and expressed displeasure with the pictures and how they portray the Disney star.

Miley's BFF says she's single

According to Miley Cyrus's best friend Mandy Jiroux, the 15-year-old star is "totally single" and not dating her 22-year-old bacck-up dancer, as previously reported.

"I don’t know where they would get that," Jiroux said while on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM show this morning. "She's not dating a backup dancer or a 22-year-old. She's totally single."

Jiroux was on the show to promote her new YouTube dance video with Cyrus. Other stars make appearances in it, including Seacrest himself.

Audrina Patridge to star in film

'The Hills' star Audrina Patridge will reportedly star in 'Into the Blue 2,' the sequel to Jessica Alba's 2005 underwater adventure flick.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Patridge will play a beautiful but demanding beach babe with a whipped boyfriend.

Patridge told Ryan Seacrest May 8 that the role is "giving me the chance to show people [what I can do]. The star recently fired her agent for not getting her enough job offers. "This is why I moved to L.A.," she said.

In other news about 'The Hills,' Us Magazine has reported that the reality show will return for a fourth season, and will appear in August with 19 new episodes.

"They just started shooting," an insider told the magazine. "The fourth season will be about what they ended up doing this summer. Lauren and Whitney will still be working at People's Revolution."

The current season ends tonight with a pre- and post- show party in the Hollywood Hills, airing live on MTV.

Is Ryan Seacrest taking over for Larry King?

A source from CNN has said that Ryan Seacrest may take over hosting duties for Larry King in 2009.

Seacrest, who has been a fill-in for his pal in the past, is reportedly involved in "serious negotiations" with "Larry King Live." In April 2007, King also told The New York Times that Seacrest would be his first choice for a replacement when he bows out.

"He's the classic generalist," King told the paper. "The only thing I don't know, and I've gotten to know him pretty well, is how versed he is in politics, world affairs. Does he read the paper? Is he interested in Iraq? Because if he is, he's going to be very good."

MSNBC has reported that if Seacrest were to take over for King, Seacrest would also continue his other hosting duties. But there has been recent speculation that Seacrest will leave Fox's American Idol due to an Idol online market research survey that focused on viewer satisfaction with the show's host.

However, a source close to CNN said "there is no truth to his story," and Seacrest's rep said that "Larry and Ryan are close and Ryan does fill in as a guest host from time to time, but we have no comment on this story."

Brooke White exits Idol

Brooke White was the latest to exit the American Idol stage, leaving just four contestants to sing their way to the top.

The former nanny had been in the bottom for several weeks, and her fate was perhaps sealed after Tuesday's Neil Diamond night performance of "I'm a Believer," which judge Simon Cowell called a "nightmare."

Prior to her elimination, host Ryan Seacrest asked White how she recovered from the criticism of her first song to perform her second song, "I Am... I Said."

"I'm happy to be here," White said. "Finally last night, I just kicked into that happy, grateful mode."

The emotional songstress was paired with Syesha Mercado in the bottom two, and when she was eliminated, she told fans "I just wanna say 'thank you.'"

Her exit leaves Mercado, David Archuleta, Jason Castro and Jason Cook vying to be named the next American Idol.

Seacrest also addressed some vague, unspecified Internet rumors regarding judge Paula Abdul's gaffe on Tuesday.

"It sparked a lot of gossip about Paula," Seacrest said. "I read some of this online this morning and, just for the record, the rumors - they're not true. She's part of our family and we love her."

During the call-in section of the show, judge Simon Cowell's first kiss, Tara, was on the line. The now 46-year-old said of then 9-year-old Cowell, "He'd taken me to the bottom of his garden... It was very cute and it was very memorable. We were just kids. We didn't know what we were doing!"

"I saw him on American Idol and [I thought] wow, that's amazing," she told People later of her decision to call. "It was just one of those This is Your Life-type situations, and I thought I'd go for it. I hope I didn't embarrass him."

The night also featured performances by Natasha Bedingfield, who sang her hit "Pocketful of Sunshine," and Neil Diamond, who performed "Pretty Amazing Grace."

In other Idol news, a source told Access Hollywood that the show is considering dumping Seacrest to boost falling ratings. Recent studio-sponsored audience surveys also focused on the host, asking the questions "I like the interaction between Ryan and the contestants" and "I like the interaction between the judges and Ryan."

"Ryan is so busy turning himself into a diverse brand, one that has longevity, it wouldn't come as a surprise to think that he isn't worried about his job security with Idol," a source close to Seacrest told MSNBC.com.

But his rep refused to comment on the speculation and another source said the survey questions "fall under the leave-no-stone-unturned category more than anything else."

Paula gets confused again on Idol

Paula Abdul seemed very confused on last night's episode of American Idol. Each contestant sang twice, but after everyone sang their first time, host Ryan Seacrest asked for the judges' comments.

Abdul gave comments to contestant Jason Castro, critiquing his first song, then his second - even though he only sang once!

"Oh my God, I thought you sang twice," Abdul said when judge Randy Jackson informed her of the mistake. "You know what? This is hard!" Simon Cowell also tried to save her, repeatedly asking who was her favorite.

Afterwards Abdul said she was thrown a "curveball" and was "confused," resulting in an "honest mistake."

"In seven years we've never had to do that," Abdul told Seacrest about the judging. "We were only following directions."

Although audience members were laughing, Seacrest did try to minimize any embarrassment. "Paula, you’re seeing the future, baby. You're seeing the future," he said.
