Michael Phelps writes childrens book

Just in case being a 14-time Olympic gold medalist wasn't enough, Michael Phelps can now add children's book author to his resume. His book is called How to Train with a T. Rex and Win 8 Gold Medals. The book focuses on Phelps training regimen and describes it in a way that is easy for kids to understand. The book is illustrated by Ward Jenkins and includes illustrations of Phelps, his coach Bob Bowman and his bulldog Herman.

"It's a fun way for kids to learn and for me to get a lot of different messages out there," Phelps said. "Having Bob and Herman in the book is cool."

There is no word yet on a release date for the book.

Michael Phelps Strikes Again...

He won a ba-jillion Olympic gold medals for our country, no one can deny how amazing this athlete is in the water. On land however, Michael Phelps is just an idiot. Over the weekend, UK tabloid News of the World published this picture of Phelps, well, you get the idea. Yes, he could have been caught doing things that are MUCH worse, many have said, but he's a role model to a lot of young kids!

This isn't Phelps' first run-in with trouble. He's pretty much a pro now at issueing statements of apology. Phelps was charged with driving under the influence in 2004 in Maryland. He stated then, "Getting in a car with anything to drink is wrong, dangerous and unacceptable. I'm 19 but was taught no matter how old you are, you should always take responsibility for your actions, which I will do."

Michael Phelps issued this little statement to AP about the picture published of him inhaling from a marijuana pipe this weekend: "I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment. I'm 23 years old and despite the successes I've had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again."

How about all those endorsement deals? No word on whether or not Phelps has been released from any of the deals.

Why So Classy?

Let us pause for a moment and savor the class -- the beauty -- the elegance -- that is Caroline Pal. (She's the one in the middle) I'm nearly blinded by all the sophistication in this photo. Caroline Pal has all the makings of a future First Lady of the United States -- Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush, and Michelle Obama all need to take lessons from this walking etiquette lesson.

Any-sarcasm, this fine upstanding citizen is just the latest in a string of women who have captivated the heart (yeah, that's it...the "heart"...) of Olympic hero Michael Phelps (and, for the record: While his body is certainly hot, his face didn't get the memo...)

But she's not just another notch on his bedpost: Mike took this one home to spend Thanksgiving with his family. (I'm sure his mother was thrilled...)

We can only hope she swapped out that barely-there shirt and the "Got Ho's?" skirt for something more festive and bedazzled.

GQ Men Of The Year 2008 (Sizzle, Sizzle!)

GQ magazine has published the list of GQ Men of the Year 2008. The four magazine covers are available on newsstands now and feature President-elect Barack Obama, Mad Men star Jon Hamm, leading man Leonardo DiCaprio and Olympic athlete Michael Phelps. We think these are some pretty impressive choices! Who is on your favorite cover?

Britney to appear at MTV's VMAs

It was on, then off, then on. We just got word that it is on again, kind of. New, improved Bikini-body Britney will be appearing at the opening of MTV's 25th annual Video Music Awards Ceremony. Britney said that “MTV has long played an important role in my career. How can I not be there to kick off their 25th VMA’s? I'm excited to open the entire show, to say hi to my fans and to be nominated.”

She won't be singing or performing, although there were earlier reports that she would be signing Radar from her 2007 album, Blackout. Britney is nominated this year for Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year for “Piece of Me.”

We also hear whispers that she'll be presenting an award with Olympic Champion, Michael Phelps.

Disney Congragulates Michael Phelps with World Parade

Since his record-breaking performance at the Beijing Olympics Michael Phelps has been a man in demand. And this week at a special Walt Disney World Parade in his honour he got to meet one of America's most iconic and recognisable stars - Mickey Mouse.

Surrounded by streamers and balloons and with Disney's best-loved characters close by, Michael - who received the same distinction after the 2004 Games - rode through the theme park's Magic Kingdom alongside the cartoon mouse as part of the "America's Homecoming Parade" laid on for him on Friday.

Things do not seem to be slowing down for the 23-year-old, who has recently announced he is writing a book about his journey to get into the Olympic record books. Due to be a presenter at the MTV Video Music Awards in September, Michael will join 150 other US Olympians to tape a special celebratory Oprah Winfrey show on Wednesday.

Olympics Make TV History!

Through 16 days of coverage, 211 million viewers tuned in to the Olympics on NBC Universal’s broadcast and cable outlets, making it the most-watched US television event of all time. They should be thanking that Michael Phelps (we think!) ...

NBC notes that 211 million Americans have watched the Beijing coverage! Beijing has topped the previous "most-viewed event" in U.S. TV history: the 209 million total viewers for NBC's 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Good news for all you swim fans! With Phelps' Beijing swimming success, TV reports are hoping it will translate into a lasting boost for swimming's TV appeal. Who was your favorite Olympian at this summer's games?

Olympic Swimmer Drama

Amanda Beard, an Olympic swimmer and Playboy covergirl, is not definitely not hooking up with Michael Phelps! She denied the rumors on Johnjay and Rich's radio show yesterday morning. When asked about the rumors that she was dating Phelps, she replied, "Eww, that's nasty. I have never, ever hooked up with Michael Phelps. Come on, I have really good taste. He's really not my type." Ouch! That's pretty harsh!

Don't believe that she really said this? Above is the clip of Amanda bashing Phelps yesterday morning. It's just before the 2 min. mark! She's also pretty full of herself, she talks about dating a racecar driver and how he got popular only after he dated her. Geez, she's giving herself a lot of credit.

Michael Phelps Wins 8 Gold Medals!

This man is a truly talented Olympian, not to mention, a fish in the water! 23-year-old Michael Phelps made history last night at the Beijing Olympics! With the help of his team mates in the 4×100 meter medley relay, Phelps secured his eighth medal. Team USA won in a world record time of 3 minutes 29.34 seconds.

The swim champ is the only person ever to win eight gold medals at a single Olympics (surpassing previous record holder, Mark Spitz). Day nine of the Summer Olympics in Beijing, featuring Phelps' historic gold-medal triumph, gave NBC its most watched Saturday prime-time broadcast in 18 years, the network said.

On Sunday morning, Phelps swam the butterfly leg on the 4x100-meter U.S. medley relay that held off Australia in a world record-setting victory, giving Phelps his eighth gold medal of these Games and his 14th over all.

"I wanted to do something nobody ever did," Phelps said. "This goes hand in hand with my goal of changing swimming."
