Kelly Rowland Amicably Parts Ways With Record Label

The Grammy-winning R&B/pop superstar Kelly Rowland will no longer be recording with Columbia Records as a solo artist, it was officially announced today by the label.

Rowland, a founding member of Destiny's Child, the world's top-selling female group, will continue her relationship with Columbia Records in her ongoing role in the iconic ensemble.

"Because Columbia Records has been my home base as an artist for more than a decade, the decision to move out on my own required a lot of soul-searching," said Kelly Rowland. "As a solo artist, I felt the need to explore new directions, new challenges, and new freedoms outside my comfort zone and my friends and family at Columbia have been incredibly understanding about my evolution. I want to thank everyone at Columbia for the love and support they've shown and I will never forget how many good times we've had over the years."

"It has been a privilege and a pleasure to work with Kelly and we will continue our working relationship with her under the Destiny’s Child moniker. Singer, songwriter, performer, recording artist and actress Kelly Rowland rose to fame as one of the original members of Destiny's Child, the #1 female pop group of all-time. In 2002, during a hiatus with the group, Kelly released "Simply Deep," her first solo album featuring the #1 international smash single, "Dilemma," a duet with the rapper Nelly which earned Kelly her first Grammy Award outside Destiny's Child. In addition to selling more than 50 million records worldwide with Destiny's Child, Kelly Rowland has sold more than 4 million copies globally of her two solo albums: 2002's "Simply Deep" and 2007's "Ms. Kelly," which included the international #1 chart-topping single, "Work."

Kelly Rowland's Knowles split

Kelly Rowland has parted ways with her manager, Beyonce Knowles' father.

The former Destiny's Child singer and Mathew Knowles - who has managed Kelly since she was in the successful girl group and also looks after his daughters Beyonce and Solange - agreed to separate earlier this week, with both parties insisting the split is "amicable".

Kelly's statement said: "Mathew Knowles has been a positive influence in my career. I have had great success under his guidance - both as a member of Destiny's Child and with my solo projects. Although we have decided to part ways professionally, the Knowles family and the entire Music World Entertainment team will always be my family."

Mathew said in a statement: "After a very positive meeting between Kelly Rowland and myself, we have amicably agreed to end our professional relationship.

"As an artist Kelly has incredible talent and I only wish her the best. We will always be family first and foremost and as a dad I can only have love for Kelly."

Mathew hinted at a Destiny's Child reunion, adding: "My company, Music World, will continue to manage Destiny's Child as a group."

It has been reported Kelly - who was seen meeting with the Spice Girl's former manager Simon Fuller late last year - decided to call time on their professional relationship following a huge argument with the 58-year-old manager.

It has also been claimed Kelly was becoming increasingly frustrated at her stalling career as Beyonce's solo work has soared.A source explained: "We were told Kelly was really upset that she's not better represented in the United States. She's a big hit in Europe, but not in America."Kelly's last album 'Ms. Kelly' - which was released in the US in 2007 after having been pushed back several times to make way for Beyonce's LP 'B'Day' - reached only number six in the US Billboard 200 charts, while 'B'Day' went straight to number one.

Kelly Rowland says she loves the UK and plans to relocate to London.

The former Destiny’s Child singer, 27, has enjoyed plenty of nights out in the capital recently.

‘I’m very comfortable here, and that says a lot. I feel like I’m at home,' she says.

'My British fans are the best in the world.'

Kelly was going to buy a luxury apartment in Battersea, south London, but pulled out.

‘I really like north London,’ she tells Celebs On Sunday.

‘I’m going to check out lots of places there as soon as possible.’

Destiny’s Child singer parties with U2 frontman Bono

Kelly Rowland hosted a mammoth 10-hour party in St Tropez on Friday – racking up a bill of £196,230.

The Destiny's Child singer was holding the Amika's Weekend Takeover bash for 30 of her friends.

She even invited U2 frontman Bono, 48, to join her

Kelly, 27, and her entourage are said to have downed 50 magnums of £3,000 vintage Dom Perignon, 24 bottles of £490 Patron tequila and 10 bottles of £2,000 Louis XIII cognac.

‘Kelly was the ultimate host. Even when the bar bill began to spiral out of control, she refused to close the tab,’ a source tells the Daily Mirror. ‘She had 30 very thirsty pals, so it was always going to be a pretty big night.

‘Bono arrived quite late and Kelly told him to order whatever he liked. A good night was had by all.’
