'Lucy In The Sky' Inspiration Dies

Lucy Vodden, passed away at age 46 due to complications with the immune disease lupus. She was the inspiration for The Beatles' 1967 hit song "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds".

It all stemmed from a drawing done by Julian Lennon, John Lennon's eldest son. The picture was of classmate Lucy Vodden, nee O'Donnell, at the Weybridge Nursery School in 1966. This must have been one heck of a drawing, as it inspired Lennon to pen one of the most famous Beatles songs of all time.

John Lennon's killer denied parole for fifth time

Los Angeles - Former Beatle John Lennon's killer was denied parole for the fifth time Tuesday, and will remain behind bars for at least two more years.

Mark David Chapman, 53, was denied parole from New York's Attica Correctional Facility because his release 'would not be in the best interest of the community' parole board members said in a statement.

Lennon's widow Yoko Ono told the New York Daily News that she had personally asked parole officials to deny Chapman's request. 'It's dangerous for him to come out. Not only for us, but for himself.'

Chapman will remain in Attica for at least two more years before becoming re-eligible for parole.

He has so far served 27 years of a maximum life sentence, for the December 1980 killing of Lennon outside his Manhattan apartment building.
