John Edwards Prosecution Given Go Ahead By Justice Department

The U.S. Justice Department said it would allow John Edwards to drop the investigation into alleged violations of campaign finance, North Carolina reports ABC11 station.
According to the local branch, and is expected that 2008 presidential candidate to be indicted in the case.
She emphasized that ABC News that the Ministry of Justice will not allow prosecutors to bring criminal charges against Edwards.

John Edwards IS the Father

Looks like John Edward's life pretty much sucks. Everyone watched as Reille Hunter, Edward's ex-lover, carried an 18 month baby girl Frances, into court. Rumors immediately began swirling about Frances being Edward's love child. Well those rumors are officially laid to rest according to National Enquirer, as a secret DNA test confirms that Edwards is the father of baby Frances.

Edwards at first denied having a relationship with Hunter, who was a campaign staffer of his, but then he admitted to the affair. He then denied being Frances father, but supposedly admitted to this to his wife. As Edwards continues to be investigated for use of funds during his election campaign it appears that the rest of his life continues to crumble around him.

In a new interview held with ABC's Nightline, the one-time Democratic presidential hopeful admits to an affair with the woman rumored to be the mother of his illegitimate child. Read what the NY Times had to say about the entire story!

The former Senator came clean today on Friday, after weeks of avoiding the allegations in the news. Edwards' wife, Elizabeth, who is battling terminal cancer and has not commented on this latest development. How embarassing for his kids and family!

Edwards told ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff that he did have an affair with 42-year old videographer Rielle Hunter, but said that he did not love her. Edwards also denied he was the father of Hunter's baby girl, Frances Quinn, although he said he has not taken a paternity test.

Since becoming pregnant, Hunter has lived under assumed names in a series of expensive homes in North Carolina and California. Edwards denied paying any money to Hunter to keep her from going pubic but said it was possible some of his friends or supporters may have made payments without telling him. Yeah, right, we are definitely seeing through that lie!

John Edwards Admits to Affair, Denies Fathering Child

John Edwards is admitting he had an affair with 44-year-old Rielle Hunter, after repeatedly shooting down reports of an extramarital relationship.

The National Enquirer first reported the affair in October 2007. Edwards blasted the story, saying: “The story is false, it’s completely untrue, it’s ridiculous.”

When a photo of Edwards with his reported love child appeared in The Enquirer recently—along with details of a rendez-vous between Edwards and the woman he describes in a new interview as his former mistress—Edwards dismissed that report as “tabloid trash.”

But in a shocking new interview with ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff for an episode of Nightline to air Friday, Edwards confirms his affair with Hunter but denies that he is the father of her 6-month-old daughter.

Edwards claims his affair with Hunter ended before the baby was born on Feb. 27, 2008.

He has not submitted to a paternity test.

Edwards’ former campaign aide Andrew Young publicly claimed paternity of Hunter’s baby in December, but he is not listed as the father on the child’s birth certificate.

Friends of Hunter told ABC News that Edwards first met Hunter at a bar in New York City in 2006. She was paid $114,000 to produce campaign documentaries for him, despite her lack of experience, and followed him on trips across the U.S. and to Africa.

Edwards said the affair started while Hunter was working for the campaign.

Elizabeth, John Edwards’ wife—who has an incurable form of cancer—learned of the affair in 2006, the onetime presidential candidate told ABC.

In the new Nightline interview, Edwards denies that he paid off Hunter to keep quiet about their affair.

However, Edwards confirms that he met with her in July at the Beverly Hilton Hotel – a rendez-vous first reported by The National Enquirer —and that his wife was not aware of the meeting.

He stressed that his wife’s cancer was in remission when he started the affair with Hunter.

The National Enquirer just released a photo of John Edwards and his reported love child.

The picture shows the former presidential hopeful holding a baby girl, Frances Quinn Hunter, at the Bevery Hilton hotel in L.A.

According to The Enquirer, Edwards started a sexual relationship with the baby’s mother, Rielle Hunter, last year after she was hired to shoot a documentary about the North Carolina Democrat.

According to the baby’s birth certificate, obtained by The Charlotte Observer, Frances Quinn Hunter was born Feb. 27.

Two months before that, Andrew Young, a former Edwards aide, publicly claimed to be the father. But no father is listed on the baby’s birth certificate, the Observer reports.

The Enquirer photos, taken on July 21, claim to show Edwards making a secret late-night visit to Rielle, 44, and their nearly 6-month-old baby.

“These photos are damning proof that the world is caving in on John Edwards from all sides,” a North Carolina source close to the situation told the magazine.

Edwards, 55, refused to answer questions when confronted at the hotel by Enquirer reporters. Instead, he apparently ducked into the men’s room and waited for security to escort him out of the hotel.

Giuliani, Edwards drop out of race

Today was a big day in politics as contenders in both parties dropped out of the presidential race.

Republican Rudy Giuliani told Florida supporters this morning that he is leaving the race and backing his longtime friend, Republican John McCain. His announcement comes after his third place finish (to McCain and Mitt Romney) in Tuesday's primary in Florida.

In a speech following Tuesday's results, Giuliani implied he would pull out. "I'm proud that we chose to stay positive and to run a campaign of ideas in an era of personal attacks, negative ads and cynical spin," Giuliani said. "You don't always win, but you can always try to do it right, and you did."

Giuliana's adviser, Rep. Peter King, a New York Republican, said he believes the former New York mayor will become "fairly involved" in McCain's campaign.

As of today, McCain said he has not yet spoken to Giuliani; however, he did mention him in his victory speech on Tuesday: "I want to thank my dear friend, my dear friend Rudy Giuliani, who invested his heart and soul in this primary and who conducted himself with all the qualities of the exceptional American leader he truly is."

Meanwhile, Democratic candidate John Edwards also dropped out of contention today, reportedly "so that history can blaze its path" with Barack Obama or Hillary Rodham Clinton heading to the White House.

Edwards said Obama and Clinton will uphold his campaign-long interest in ending the "two Americas" - one for the rich and powerful and the other for everyone else - and both pledged "they will make ending poverty central to their campaign for the presidency."

The former North Carolina senator has not formally endorsed either of the other Democratic candidates, but both Clinton and Obama had words of praise for him.

"John Edwards ended his campaign today in the same way he started it — by standing with the people who are too often left behind and nearly always left out of our national debate," Clinton said of Edwards' speech to pull out of race in hurricane-ravaged New Orleans.

"While his campaign may have ended, this cause lives on for all of us who still believe that we can achieve that dream of one America," Obama said at a rally in Denver.

Although Edwards said he was suspending his campaign, aides said it is legal terminology that will allow him to continue to receive federal matching funds for his campaign donations, despite the fact that he is no longer in contention.

Edwards also ran for president in 2004, but after losing the bid to John Kerry, he became his running mate and the vice presidential hopeful.
