UConn Vs. Kentucky

UConn's youth (and Kemba Walker, of course) beat Kentucky's youth, despite a freshman mistake by Jeremy Lamb late. And it's DeAndre Liggins, a junior, who will be the Wildcats' sickest player tonight.

A Shabazz Napier turnover gave Kentucky a chance to take the lead with 16 seconds left, but the Wildcats were only able to get a deep DeAndre Liggins three on the ensuing possession. Liggins missed, Napier came up with the rebound, and the Husky freshman hit his free throws to ice UConn's third NCAA Tournament final appearance.

In those last two trips to the last men's college basketball game of the season, Jim Calhoun is 2-0.

Walker was his typically brilliant self throughout the game, accumulating 18 points, six rebounds, and seven assists while steadying the Huskies and helping UConn beat back a resurgent Kentucky in the second half.

And now, the most electric player from March Madness will get a chance to win the NCAA Tournament in April.

UConn Earns Final Four Bid

Jim Calhoun could scarcely watch when the most improbable postseason run of his coaching life at Connecticut came down to an open 3-point attempt by Arizona's Jamelle Horne.

The shot clanged off the back rim. The clock hit zeros.

Nine victories in just 19 days. Calhoun has seen just about everything, but nothing like this – and now his Huskies will keep running all the way to Houston.

Kemba Walker scored 20 points, freshman Jeremy Lamb added 19 and UConn earned its second Final Four berth in three years, beating Arizona 65-63 Saturday to win the West regional..........

1 seeds sweep Final Four

In a disappointing turn for fans of Cinderella teams like this year's tenth-seeded Davidson, all four of the number one seeds in the NCAA men's basketball tournament made the Final Four.

Prior to the start of the season, pollsters selected North Carolina, UCLA, Memphis and Kansas as the top teams in the nation. Then the tournament selection committee also chose those teams as the best, rewarding each with a number one seed. Lo and behold, the four teams who have made it to the Final Four are the aforementioned.

Never before have all four number one seeds made it to the Final Four.

North Carolina made it by defeating third-seeded Louisville, Memphis beat two-seeded Texas, UCLA knocked out third-seeded Xavier, and in a near upset and the Cinderella story of the tournament, number ten Davidson couldn't hang on against the Kansas Jayhawks.

It will be a tough battle as the four best teams in the country face off to determine who is the lone number one. North Carolina (36-2) will play Kansas (35-3) and Memphis (37-1) will take on UCLA (35-3) Saturday.
