Rai Bachchan has received praises for her first appearance at this year's Cannes. Ash chose a
lilac Elie Saab gown for the opening ceremony.

The 36-year-old Indian actress wore a one-of-a-kind Gucci magenta pleated chiffon twisted
halter neck gown open back and full floor length skirt. She was joined on the red carpet by her mom
Vrinda Rai.Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan stole the show as she walked the red carpet for the third consecutive day at Cannes Film Festival.

   This May 2010 (from 12 to 23)  France getting so much of busy with  Festival de cannes Award  2010.

Somehow I find today’s ceremony different to previous ones, more serious and formal plus the 

collage of Tim Burton’s films was too long for me or maybe is just that I’m so familiar with all the

films shown. The musical segment as an homage to music from Burton films was more 

entertainning and maybe too sophisticated for general audiences as most music was jazzy,

with one exception from a film that I found its music so happy that still resonates in my head,

Beetlejuice. On the opposite extreme, the clips from some of the in competition and out 

of competition films was too short for me, but was glad to watch too brief clips from movies 

that still have no video at the official site or the net.

Only three women in the stage but you’ll agree that your eyes and the camera were

mostly on them, very elegant and statuesque Kristin Scott Thomas with a fortyish look,

always beautiful Giovanna Mezzogiorno, and very elegant Kate Beckinsale wearing a

gorgeous dress make the ceremony worth watching. At the end always elegant

Cate Blanchett opens the festival together with a smooth Russell Crowe.

Festival De Cannes:Nineteen in the main competition

 
In the opening of Festival De Cannes there are nineteen (19) in the main competition.

Also Fremaux mentions that has happened before in recent years, but the most amazing story is that the three films that entered 'late' won the Palme d'Or. Nevertheless he asks not to draw any conclusions from the past...

As announced in the official site this is the final Selection list with eighteen (18) films competing for the Palme d'Or. There is one surprising change, a movie moved from Un Certain Regard into the main competition (Wang's Chongqing Blues).

I'm getting really excited with the movies in the main selection as all seem quite interesting. There are some films (and some documentaries shown in the Special Screenings section) that definitively are must be seen, even when I know have to wait until the end of this year or early 2011 to be able to watch them. Still haven't seen some from last year, but it doesn't really matter as the quality of the films shown in this 'mother' of all festivals is always Premium great cinema and I have patience.
