I am excited about the rally, I haven't started that yet. I always loved the dirt and snow races in previous GT games.

Let's be frank...
Whether totally Radio Shack's fault or
not this was a very sloppy launch for the
company.
Quite frankly, I think they were just given
the ******** end of the stick by Apple who
obviously is throwing them whatever leftovers
they have which now must be distributed
across all their stores.
I'm stuck. This phone is costing me $650
and I will not spend that kind of money without
getting $200 off on my trade-in. So I am
sitting here just waiting it out. It may work
out well for me because I may luck out on a
White iPhone by the time my store gets stock.

Just because lots of people you know, plus a couple of people on these forums say that they've switched, you can't generalize that into a broad statement that covers everyone everywhere. It might be a localized trend in your area. Just like I can't say that just because none of my clients has switched platforms, that there's NO migration off FCP to AVID or Premier.

The problem is not the number of retail-locations selling iPads, the problem is number of iPads in those stores. Now that BB is out of the picture, other retailers can receive more units. Now Apple can stop supplying BB-stores, and use those units to supply some other stores instead. You know, stores that actually sell the product to a customer?

The major thing, though, is they HAVE to start utilizing multiple cores. It's not and as video gets larger, rendering gets more taxing.
They do. FCP regularly uses more than 100% CPU during render. Not saying it can't be improved though.

How does withholding stock from the public aid a company? I can imagine holding them till everything is registered in their system and accounted for. But turning people away when they actually do have stock doesn't sound like a good business practice to me
I read over at TechCrunch that it was to meet daily sales quotas, which is to benefit the store manager, mostly. They look better for hitting/beating their quota everyday, regardless of whether or not it is actually at all helpful to Best Buy.

Many Best Buys with Apple Shoppes have Apple representatives who work right at the store, I doubt they would let this happen at their store. I wonder how many Best Buys have done this
The Best Buy I bought my MBP at was in an Apple Shop and had a great representitive in it. Dan was great and could not have been more helpful. I hope the first time I visit a Apple store I have a similar experience.

Seriously, either Samsung have pulled something incredible out of the bag or, more likely IMHO, this 'new' 10.1 wont be all that. They're certainly desperate to have a tablet success!

Because that's usually how it works. :confused:
HP is Intel's main launch partner for the quad-core Xeon and I think they have secured the first of the major shipments.

Seems like someone in Anantech has managed to do just that with the upcoming Clovertown chips (http://anandtech.com/mac/showdoc.aspx?i=2832&p=6).

There will still be different chips for different markets, but the arch is the same across the board. This is a significant difference from the Pentium-4/Pentium-M days, where the arch was very, very different.
The other big difference is the support chipsets -- the Xeon range use a different chipset that supports FBDIMM vs DDR2 for the Core 2 branded chips. This is the reason Intel kept the memory controller off the CPU die, so that they had more flexibility with memory types.

That isn't exactly what I said, I don't have a problem with people discussing new and upcoming products and features and when we might see them. Count me in.
Its the people that are getting so worked up, annoyed at Apple, threatening to dump the platform and move to Windows, claiming Apple are three months behind Windows systems and generally bitching.
Its all pointless as the same people will start up again with the next technology advances as soon as the Macbook range is updated with Merom.
