That sounds pretty minor compared to the US. Might I suggest a visit to LA, Chacago, NYC or large southern city so you can get a sense what goes on here?
I do have a sense of what's going on there.
Norway is a small country with only 5M citizens in the whole country (600K in the capital city). The land area is about the same size as the state of California. Most phenomenons would seem minor compared to the US. But I guess the fact that almost anyone can afford to buy food for an entire month or two in advance if necessary, makes mass looting Chicago-style far less likely.

Please share that NSX's picture with us. It's gorgeous. ;)
Unfortunately this is the highest resolution I have. :( Works good on the 13" screen though.

End of June makes sense... but it does not make sense that they would not announce (as they have before) at the WDC? But, maybe focus on SW at the WDC makes sense to build value to the new iOS5 and Lion? Might mean that iOS5 is more significant than we expect to deserve such a spotlight?

Price difference isn't as much as people think on NEW Macs.
On used vs used, it's huge.
You can get spec'd HP xw8400s for 100-300 on eBay, while a similar MAcPro costs in the range of 1000 - 1500.
Like right now, mp dual core 5160 is selling for 250. Can step up to quads for about 500-600 with a xw8600.

Mac resale is incredible.

Just wondering if anyone has upgraded to 8GB with the regular MacBook (not the pro). I saw people talking about it above but didn't see where anyone was successful.
Also, would it take the same exact RAM as the Pro?
I took 8 GB of OWC RAM out of a 17" Macbook Pro and put it in my 2008 Aluminum Unibody Macbook (NOT pro) and it works wonderfully. I have not tried putting all 8GB in a white macbook.

It would be interesting to separate out the corporate vs. personal computer purchases. It is hard for Mac to get much above 5% when corporate puchases are included. BTW, it would be interesting to see how many of those "computers" are just dumb terminals used in stores and schools etc.
Remember, there are lies and there are statistics.
The survey was a consumer survey, not a corporate procurement department survey. So that 18% figure for desktops and 17% for laptops appear to be the percentage of consumers that are considering a Mac purchase. As a poster pointed out above *planned* purchase doesn't necessarily translate into *actual* purchase, but it's definitely an encouraging sign to se 15 to 20 percent numbers for consumer purchases. I think Apple would be ecstatic to get 15% of
the consumer market this holiday season. I don't think Apple is even considering any significant corporate push now. Apple knows it has a much better chance of success in the consumer market.

Storing my files so that apple can dictate what I can or can't have on their servers? Companies essentially owning my content?
Yeah I think I'll pass.
Cloud based services are anti-technology, with garbage like this companies have no incentive to increase capacities on storage devices and all content would be under a corporation's server who's sole basis is to make money while holding your data hostage.
Apple specifically is one of the most unethical companies out there.

I think that ms. verizon and ms.google have done paid off ms. consumer reports to give a bad rating. Convient timing for the droid x release, uh humm. I would like to find someone with a legitimate problem. Blackberry's, nokia's, etc all do the same, so they should have bad rattings too.
Yes, for other phones to succeed, the iPhone needs to fail. I took off my bumper in protest to the haters. Never have a problem and the phone works perfectly without having to change how I hold the phone. It is perfect.

Hey...
So, sounds good.
Are designating one day as the "big" event. It might be easier to get a good showing one particular day, and leave the other days open as well for people who want to meet.
arn
Are we going to have a MR cheering section for any of the events open for everyone? Like live with David Pogue and Best of show and etc.

The only downside would be that an offline navigation system requiring only a GPS signal would require GB's of maps data to be stored on the phone. A sacrifice that a lot of people aren't willing to make. Especially people with the 16GB models. Otherwise, without an internet connection, you will just appear as a dot on a map full of gray squares. That's the reason Apple chose google maps in the first place. When they first introduced the iPhone, there would be no plausible way to store maps on a phone with only 4/8GB of storage.
For Tom Tom, the map data for the USA is divided into five sets of about 250-300 MB each. No problem at all. UK is about the same size.

I have no idea what kind of point you think you are making to this thread. Nobody has ever argued that laptops aren't a compromise. You seemed to argue earlier that some will always hate the 11" (for example no matter how much resolution it will be bad). I made the point that depending on what exactly the tradeoff is (storage versus resolution, etc...) that this will change who wants the 11" and doesn't.
If you are going to argue a point, you should actually have a point to make in mind. I have no idea what you think you are trying to say here. You're trying to say it's personal preference? Of course! Nobody here has ever said there is only one "right" answer.
Hate is a strong word and I didn't use it, but I am arguing that the 11" brought the MBA to the forefront of a conversation. Remember when the first Air was released? Wasn't there a big consensus that: "Yeah, so what?" I'm saying that would still be the general consensus if Apple only refreshed the 13". Size, weight, and to the OP's point, "invitingness" matter. For me and many others, the MBA is finally where it always should have been.
Now, go back and read the first post.

UMTS/HSDPA is NOT CDMA based. It is actually TDMA based, like GSM. While it does have a CDMA over-the-air interface, it is intended to replace GSM and its other sister technologies. EVDO is intended for the CDMA carriers (Sprint, Verizon, Alltel, US Cellular, Cricket, metroPCS) and will be a far cry from defacto as over 80% of the world is still using GSM. And second generation GSM is still amazing technology, and it and CDMA cannot be compared, just like apples and oranges or Macs and PCs.
Not quite true. UMTS uses W-CDMA as it's underlying protocol. W-CDMA is a mixture of CDMA and, to a lesser extent, GSM technologies. UMTS/HSDPA is the route that current GSM/GPRS/EDGE carriers are going since it's an easier upgrade path. (Check out Wikipedia or Google for W-CDMA for more info).

Wow! Removable GPU, The message that I'm getting is it's clearly better to wait, that is if you can for the third or forth generation with anything apple does. It just keeps getting better with time. Removable GPU apple has come a long way.
Apple has been using removable GPU'S for year's. This isn't anything new to the iMac line. Apple has been doing this since the 24 inch core/core2duos iMac models. You where able to swap out a 7300 for a 7600gt. Every model since then has had this ability, but no one has made new upgradeable cards for the iMacs.

Perhaps rather than 4 "flailing people", you can have the software isolate just the hands part of 4 ppl and run "calculations" on those with the limited hardware. Therefore, assuming that the people are relatively still, it can track those 4 small spots and tell who slams first. I would guess that this is likely even less intensive than a full skeleton.
Maybe, I'm not really sure. To me though, it seems like if the software has to scan you to figure out what part is an arm and a what is a leg, etc, then 2 people might be the max. But again, I really have no clue.

I think Apple blew it with the new iPod Shuffle. They should have kept the old form factor but put in a small LCD display to show song titles and elapsed time.

Yep.
I got it from there too!
What a gr8 site that is! :)
I am downloading every single movie off it. I had many myself, but this will make my Apple movie collection nice and complete.
Superb job building that site, guys!
Many, many, many tnx!
EDIT:
BTW.... how was that movie made? Using a screen-capture-movie tool? Or was the entire cache of the stream somehow captured..?
