I can almost swear the initial press release announced this as an "institutional purchase only" product. I was actually surprised when students or teachers claimed they could order it as well. Maybe they just noticed their mistake and pulled it from personal purchase channels.

There you have it...I use both Intel and PPC.. Don't knock PPC, its still a good machine for BASICS, and yes with the right codecs and HTML5, its now possible to view up to 720p on the G4 1.67 and even G5. 1080p is not possible though..
Am I reading that right? Your G5 can't view 1080? it plays fluid on my Dual 2.7. YouTube or Quicktime.
I have a Octo Mac Pro that I barely use and a hex core AMD, there's just something really special to my G5 that I've been using everyday since 2005. I keep it maintained, dust free (air dusters) monthly, also recently gave it a new Pioneer DVD-RW with labelflash. I may get another hard drive for it some day. Plenty of space as it is anyway. Western Digital blue 1TB and 500GB Samsung.
Though I really need to open the G5 cover and check to see what make the pump is.

So... I posted earlier (ordered- 3/11 7:30pm and got a shipment date of 4/1, arriving 4/6) and decided to check my order status with Apple. As I mentioned it hadn't changed (before lunch). Came back after lunch and noticed people saying their order status HAD changed. So I looked again, 3 hours later... STILL NO CHANGE.
Are people really seeing their shipment dates change? Starting to lean toward a lil' BS... but don't want to cast judgment :(
My ship date hasn't changed but the status has changed to prepared for shipment. As you can see I ordered it on the 11th and the whole time it has been listed with an April 1st ship date. So my best guess is that it is waiting for Mr Factory Guy to get in Friday morning and hand off the latest pallets of tablets to Mr Shipping Guy.

Apple support on a Motorolla device, not the other way around. At least to my knowledge, they didn't take that support away. I can't see Apple allowing users to continue to stream Netflix on ATV2 if they introduce a service that directly competes.
Maybe you're right, though. I won't be a happy camper though... Take away Netflix and my ATV2 is an overpriced movie trailer player.
if Apple were to build ther own TV, They wouldnt build an ungodly amount at first, would they. wouldnt they test the waters a bit. With the better content and a subscription not too much higher than NETFLIX, I think they would have a monster.

I am just curious as to how the roadmap for future iteration of iPhone will go.
If iPhone 5 is late-September early-October, does it mean iPhone 6 will be the same time in 2012, or skip to Summer 2013?
I think if the iPhone 5 isn't announced in June, Apple will likely announce one in time for the holidays. I think that Apple wants to take advantage of the holiday season to market the new iPhones rather than the summer. Though either way, people will be lining up in droves to get one.

I work for BestBuy/GeekSquad, so let me confirm that that yes, we'll be selling iPhones at launch, and there will indeed be an employee purchase hold to allow clients to purchase the entire stock for a certain period of time.
You will be able to use rewardzone certificates, store credit, gift cards, anything that would normally apply to other in-store categories.
Also the warranty that BBY mobile sells on the iPhone is pretty decent, it includes ADH (accidental damage from handling) so if you drop the phone, spill water on it or get it wet, crack the screen, all that stuff is covered under warranty.
when something is wrong the genius bar replace the phone on the spot. does best buy do that?

Have a look at Brew Dog (http://www.brewdog.com). One of their beers, Tactical Nuclear Penguin comes in at 32% ABV. Very expensive to buy. Nothing more than a publicity stunt, really. They release a beer, put something controversial on the label, questions get asked in Parliament and bingo!, loads of free publicity and street cred.
Rather have a nice bottle of single malt meself.:p
Oh, just had a look at their site and they've had to release a 41% ABV entitled "Sink The Bismark" in order to combat a 40 percenter from Germany.
They have a 55% beer out now. "The End of History" is covered in a dead animal, and costs about $750. From what I hear, most ice-distilled beers taste like ass anyway, and that's all they've done to get it this high. To me, it doesn't mean much unless it's fermented to that strength. That means my record-holder is still Utopias.

Jeez Apple.... you think that maybe the current lowest end iMac might be a little rich for everyone's blood? Sure sign of that is if everyone if buying the $899 model even though it is missing a SuperDrive and Front Row.
I think Apple should use this occurance as good solid info that people will just eat up the iMac if it is priced a tad cheaper.
In the next revisions, why not offer:
$999
17" 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo
512 MB Ram
160GB HD
Combo Drive
ATI Radeon X1600 w/ 128MB
APE + BT 2.0
$1299
17" 2 GHz Intel Core Duo
512 MB Ram
160GB HD
Super Drive
ATI Radeon X1600 w/128MB
APE + BT 2.0
$1499
20" 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo
1GB Ram
250GB HD
Super Drive
ATI Radeon X1600 w/ 256MB
APE + BT 2.0
Then I would say lower the Mac Mini's to the following:
$399
1.66GHz Intel Core Duo
512 MB Ram
60GB HD
Combo Drive
APE + BT 2.0
$599
1.83GHz Intel Core Duo
512 MB Ram
80GB HD
Super Drive
APE + BT 2.0
I would go with the risky $399 price point because with those specs you would be selling a throw away computer at that point. The 1.66GHz chip is already dated and it would be perfect for someone who doesn't know a heck of a lot about Apple. That way they aren't feeling like they are spending a "fortune" for something they are unfamiliar with. Plus once they have been bitten by the "Mac Bug", they will be more likely to go for the bigger and better models on their next purchase in 1-3 years.

A lot of you are a bunch of cheap asses.
Because we don't want to pay for the kind of crap that appeals to your ADHD-addled brain? Because we're grown-ups who can read magazines without the kind of videos and interactive features that you need to keep you from just dropping the magazine and running outside to ride your bicycle?
Most of you don't understand the amount of work that goes into producing these apps. They're not just PDFs that you download and flip through.
Don't you tell me what I do and don't understand, you little turd. I was writing software years before the accident that lead to your conception. Why should I want to pay them to produce apps when all I want to do is read a damned magazine? I don't want a separate app for every magazine that I read any more than I want a separate app for each CD that I want to listen to.
