Looks like a lot of phones are in the "other" categories. I recall going abroad last year and seeing a lot of folks sporting Android devices.
Pretty amazing number. I would love to see a more detailed list of that "Other" category.
Android is not a consistent platform. A huge chunk of that "market share" is running 1.6 and is not compatible with anything in the Market. What I said is true. What you said sounds like a desperate attempt to redefine winning.

Well provided AT&T actually acts on the information generated by the app, it's a win-win. Customers get to report exact gaps in performance and AT&T has an inexpensive and widespread source of feedback to act on.
I understand that and believe I do as I live in NY, but this is ridiculous. They should be constantly expanding and fixing their network themselves. I fork over $175/mo to them for dropped calls and shoddy 3G service. I leave my phone on EDGE at all times, that's how great their network is.

These phones better be amazing and not annoying. nothing will make me hate apple more than seeing a 13 year old screaming into her iphone while driving her SUV.

Maybe a shock collar that can detect the high pitched squeal of an adolescent teenage girl...hooked into the ignition of the car so when it detects the girls voice and the engine engaged at the same time.....zzzzzzztttttttt!!!!! Ok that went way to far. Apple can make a cool phone...but it is still up to the people not to be idiots while using them.

This could work if:
1. :apple: sets subscription pricing model equal to or better than Netflix
and
2. :apple: service can/will stream newly released titles where Netflix currently issues blu-ray and dvd formats
That said, physical media is a problem as I've received (on occasion) Netflix DVDs in the mail that were cracked or scratched beyond belief and had to call customer service and have them dispatch immediately an unscathed replacement. Not to mention this could largely offset iTunes movie rental revenues. But my guess is that if said service is indeed what :apple: has planned, it would make sense that it would supercede iTunes movie rentals altogether. For sure, this would spur Apple TV2 sales.
If any of the above isn't true, then I'm sticking to Netflix.

But hey,maybe Americans start to realize in 2050 as they now start to realize that You can't forever drive big gas guzzling wasting cars and then start to complain that their petrol starts to gets so expensive(compared to Holland it's still F$%^#$g cheap).

I cycled around the world for 5 years(60.000Km-40.000 Miles)and have been in lots of poor countries,live most of My time in Indonesia now and its just incomprehensible to them why this would be so funny.
I've seen people starving on the streets in the gutter,children starving and very old people which should be cared by their children but they are not capable to do so.

I'm on day 4 with my new ultimate 11" and I'm loving this thing. The 26:9 is weird at first but the size, like everyone is saying is great. I haven't found anything thy bothers me in the wide screen aspect ratio or just the sheer smaller screen size. I used to have the black book 13.3" and loved it but the ability to do thing like pick up my laptop and hold it opened hanging in my hand as I glance out the window or walk onto the other room is funny and a great effortless feeling. It feels like a toy bc of the weight but still a very quality product and not chincey.
I'm response to the poster about how the screen ratio has gone in the wrong direction, you also need to take into consideration video games. It's better, and I think most would agree that a wide angle screen vs a 4:3 is superior. Not everyone just readdddds on a computer. Video games, movies, picture editing, etc is all great in 16:9.

COmposite materials? Maybe, but carbon fibre? I really doubt it. To go from touting the recyclability of the materials used to create their current products to switching to a material that is notoriously difficult to recycle doesn't make any sense. Some research is going into natural fibre composites, but I really don't see what's wrong with aluminium and how composites would really give many significant benefits. Saving 15% off the weight of a car gives the car better performance and better fuel efficiency, both major selling points for a vehicle. Saving 15% off the weight of a computer would give you a 15% lighter computer, making it slightly easier to lug around, but nothing else. I'd say that while people buying a laptop do look at the weight, they'll pay much more attention to performance and features.

If Apple wants to cut on weight, liquid metal is the way, especially since they are the only one who can use it in consumer electronics. The thing has a yield strength 25 times higher than aluminium :eek: . Injectable and recyclable. Price will be the main factor for liquidmetal, it's made primarily of zirconium, which isn't cheap.

I better take care of my ol' shuffle, since when it dies I have to buy a iPod and a USB memory. Not what I call evolution...
Assuming that (1) you use the Shuffle as a music player and use a descent amount of its space, and (2) when using it as a jump drive, you're not storing more than 256MB, you can just get something like a 256MB Cruzer Micro for $15. Which added with the new shuffle, is probably smaller than the old shuffle. Maybe not for everyone, but I like encoding high enough, and have enough songs, that even if I used a shuffle as a jump drive, I wouldn't have much space left after my songs.
I'm not sure where my friend got one of his jump drives, but it is tiny; it's pretty much the end you stick into the USB drive plus a little stub. 128MB. Maybe it's personal preference, but I'd much rather have a tiny player + tiny flash drive than one (relatively) big shuffle.
