Our first house together in Surrey, bought in December 2005. It was a great starter home, but positively minute and also we both realised we'd like to live in a more rural setting. If you want a laugh, check out my first post here. I started my blog for me to record our adventure in our new home, but it's become much more than that over the years.
It's amazing what you can achieve in that time though isn't it? Since then we've moved to our dream house, I have an established career, a beautiful cat and 3 little bantams. I've also learned to sew, crochet, and paint and distress furniture, done a bit of acting, learned how to play golf, and even become an amateur photographer.
Naturally, my blog has evolved over time - it started as a memoir of my life as a young homeowner just starting out and now it's become more of an electic mix of what I'm up to that week, work activities, fundraising, makeovers, fashion - whatever I fancy writing about. I don't have as much time as I'd like to to blog - it explains the terrible spelling/grammar in my blog at times. Most of the time I have 5 or 10 minutes to put together a post, but I do enjoy being part of the blog community and catching up with old favourites. I think bloggers are naturally nosey and if we weren't blogging we'd probably be curtain twitching trying to see what the neighbours were up to!
Do you ever look back through your blog? I love looking back at how my tastes have changed - there is no way I'd have a brown sofa like this now or brown walls, but we loved them at the time!

I'd much rather have a white sofa and lovely green/grey walls now!
I first discovered the concept of 'shabby chic' and vintage style through Kelly at Vintage Lifestyle and this opened up a whole new world to me that I had previously thought was out of my reach. I soon realised that it was even cheaper (and much more fun) to buy vintage furniture/accessories than shop in Ikea!
In March 2008 we bought our cottage in the country - it had the period charm we grew to love and couldn't wait to fill it with all the antiques we had collected.

Over the years, I have built up a list of firm favourite blogs:
I love finding new blogs so if you have a new (or new to me) blog don't be shy - come and introduce yourself!

- The Further Adventures of a Thrifty Mrs is one I love to read.I love her dry wit and sense of fun.
- HenHouse is a great blog for eye candy and crafty inspiration. If you ever feel lacking in motivation a visit to Hen's blog is bound to spur you on to go off and make something!
- Songbird - I love reading Marianne's blog! She has so much energy and enthusiasm. I honestly don't know how she does it really working full time and managing to fit in all her projects.
- Happy Loves Rosie - Happy's home is full of fun and colourful eye candy. I love to pop on over and feast my eyes on her latest post!
