Kim Kardashian is just one of the many celebs who have vowed to die "a digital death" and stay off Twitter and Facebook, December 1 (which is World AIDS Day). It's all in the name of raising awareness and funds for Alicia Keys' charity Keep a Child Alive.
In order to revive your favorite tweeting stars (including Lady Gaga, Usher and Justin Timberlake), you've got to make a $10 text message donation (for instance, as Kim explained, "when u text "KIM" to 90999 that u reply "YES" to confirm your donation to @keepachildalive!") to help reach the $1 million goal. Kim urged fans before her Twitter departure, "I'm kinda sad that all of my social media will be dead tomorrow and I won't be tweeting. I love u guys! Bring me back to life soon!" Meanwhile, Alicia's husband, rapper Swizz Beatz, wrote from his page, "12midnight I shut down my twitter to save people from AIDs! I will only tweet about raising $ for the people."
