CP - Picking the Right Side Table for Your Couch

I’ve always felt that side tables add to the symmetry of a room. Whatever the shape of the room, placing some side tables beside the couch or sofa balances out the room and completes the picture. And side tables or small coffee tables, apart from looking elegant, are extremely functional pieces of furniture.

If you love sitting on your couch, then side tables are a must-have furniture addition. As the weather gets colder, you might find yourself snuggled up on the couch under your favorite blanket and won’t want to move from your warm spot. Pick a side table that’s handy to place a book, lamp, glass, letters or papers, or just about anything that fits on it without your having to move from the couch.

A small side table or ones that come in pairs of two are very useful if you’re having a party or have guests. It’s handy to place hors d’oeuvres or other snacks on them, within easy reach of your seating area. Moreover, they are compact and fit snugly into corners to save you space.

A wood side table with drawers is convenient to hold a few books or your TV remote, newspapers and magazines and other knick-knacks. I use the drawers on my side tables to store some tissues, fancy candles, or other bits and pieces that I keep strewn round the living room.

Contemporary designs in side tables have fuss-free lines and come in glass, leather or metal and even stone. I personally like antique side tables or round side tables as I feel they add an old-world charm to the living room. Placed next to the couch, they look very inviting.

Pick out side tables that balance the décor of the room and most importantly, pick ones that serve your needs.
