Just a really quick post before I head off to work. I need some help to try and come up with a few good ideas to try and raise as much money for Alzheimer's Society as I can. I've got a few already below that I'd like your opinion on, but if you have any others that would be great!
- Organise an online raffle with a prize/prizes worth well over £100
- Organise a vintage/craft fair with stalls and money raised from cakes and my stall going to charity
- Get together with the other guys climbing Kili and organise a big event (cycling/walking for 50+ miles perhaps in fancy dress etc) - I'm thinking some sort of walk dressed in 1940s clothes about 'A Walk to Remember' or something (need to work on that maybe bring in the help of another charity, ie, Royal British Legion?)
- Run beginner chicken keeping course/demonstrations with tea and cake for a fee
- Sell jam/chutneys at work
- Have a weekly/once a fortnight tea time at work and charge for cakes
- Local pub quiz once a month with entry fee
- Go on local radio and try and raise awareness
- Send press release to local papers
- Foreign coin amnesty (everyone at my places travels all over)
- Contact local WI and local primary school and ask if they will help me raise some money
- Produce glossy flyers to send round to locals/put in local shops (done - I know they cost £40 but it's my money not the charity's so it's worth the gamble)
- ...?
Preferably I'd like to use the skills I have already (organising things, my love for vintage/handmade/chickens) - I'm not particularly comfortable being the centre of attention and speaking up with big groups, but in small groups I'm quite good.
Thanks everyone!
Sian x
P.s. I got my dates wrong for the giveaway so you still have another week to enter (oops!). :-)
