Things I've been up to today....

Well, I've been on my own today so I got up, cleaned the house, sorted the animals out and then went to the Village Fete. It was quite quiet so I stayed for a little bit - I bought a really pretty pink Dahlia and some aubergine chutney.

Tim built this brick planter next to the garage last weekend so we planted out potato vine (evergreen similar in look and smell to Jasmine) and a yellow climbing honeysuckle. The garage is covered in fake brick so there's nothing to drill into. I decided to go and get some trellis and wire it on through the roof rafters and via steaks in the planter. I had to saw about a foot off the trellis, but I think it looks really good. We've been meaning to put up a hanging basket (I think they look so cottagey and pretty). There's no room on our house to have one as we have Wisteria on the front and climbing hydrangea on the back. I thought the wall next to the garage was the ideal spot so I got the drill out and put it up myself. I'm just too impatient to wait for Tim to find the time and the energy to do these tings sometimes.

This area next to our log pile has looked absolutely hideous for ages so I bought some bamboo screening for £15 and attached it to the side of the log store. No more hideous pallets in view all for less than 5 mins work!

The slugs ate my courgette and pepper plants so I picked these 2 up for half price in Homebase and put them in the Belfast sink.

I've been looking for this lovely station clock for ages. I got it 2 Christmases ago just before we moved here so I think it more or less went straight from one house to the other in the box! I didn't have to do any drilling here luckily as there was already a hole. It fits in perfectly in Tim's office with all the old sports memorabilia and old brass bits and pieces we've collected.

Now, exercise update - I went to the gym 4 times last week and I've also joined the local women's Thai Boxing club. I started on the first day and I think because I've done martial arts before I just rocked up and joined in! I did regret going to the gym at lunch time that day though because I did the core class (think 100 sit ups, front and side planks and other hideous exercises) and then that evening went straight to Thai Boxing, which also involved 5 minute sets with 10 press ups in between and 100 sit ups. It was a lot of fun though and I do like to mix exercise with learning something. I've tried other clubs before and found them really intimidating so it's nice to find a good one, particularly a women-only club. I've given myself a complete overhaul lately actually, yesterday I had very short nail extensions put on because I bite my nails terribly and they look dreadful I also had my hair cut on Friday in a very cool looking bob (chuffed to bits with it!). I'm treating myself to facials too in a bid to get rid of my dry skin. It does feel good to be looking after myself, I only wish I could have told the 23-year-old me to take it easy! :-)
