Junk hunting in Lewes

[As promised, here is a pic of the really pretty Brooch made by Debbie. Do go and look at her website.]

Re the ebay fiasco, I'm over it now. The person who won the table collected it and handed me £1! To be honest I felt like a bit of a tw@t, but oh well. I'm going to donate some money to charity to make myself feel as if something has gone to someone. A friend of mine has Parkinson's disease so I thought I'd donate a big chunk to support a charity that I know is close to his heart, The Cure Parkinson's Trust. Please do donate if you feel so inclined.

I'm rebranding again anyway. I've not given up! :-) I've chosen a really good domain name (bought the com and the co.uk) and I'm building my website already. :-) Lesson learned: ebay = rubbish for selling things, but great for buying things from poor unfortunate b@stards for 99p!!

Yesterday I popped into Lewes, it's really not that far from me and I spent a number of years there as a teenager studying. It's a real bustling little town with bags of character so if you do get the chance you must visit. Be warned though, if you want to get a parking space get there before 9am or 10am if you can (I was very lucky yesterday!). I popped into my usual haunts, the big flea market on, funnily enough, Market Street and the enormous Lewes Antiques Centre (antiques over several floors) on Cliffe High Street. I think I'd lost my mojo a bit as I didn't see much at all that I liked. I did pick up a few bits and pieces though:

Bit blurry (sorry) but this is a kitchen towel roller. I'm sick of having everything piled up onto the boiler so this will do just the job. The pine is a nice colour so that will stay as it is.

Lovely blue jug that I will use as a vase. £4 from the antiques centre.

And, last but not least, look at this very retro 1950s jug and glasses set. Not cheap at all, but I love them.

I also bought some things at the Salvation Army shop. I'm not going to be able to do that now that I am working in London so thought I'd go on one last hunt. I did find some cracking bargains.

Fire screen ripe for renovation.

Not sure what I'll use this as, but it was £2.50 so can't complain.

Two gorgeous Redoute prints.

Anyway, about the boiler, it has finally given up the ghost (well, it is 21 years old!) but it does mean that we need to spend £3000 buying and getting a new one installed (joy). We did consider getting a Rayburn, but unfortaunely I have yet to win the lottery. :-) I've just realised it can only get better now as 2 things broke last week (boiler and Tim's hard drive) and I sold my wares for peanuts (3 horrible things out of the way, yeah!).
