Cottage Christmas

[White Christmas?]

[Decs are up]
[Tree and all the presents are ready]

Christmas has just hit here at the cottage - we've been decorating, buying food and watching Christmas movies (Scrooged, Home Alone, Love Actually) whilst tucked up in front of the fire. I lost my mojo a couple of weeks ago (various shocking occurrences at work combined with minor nervous breakdown haven't helped), but it's now back I'm pleased to say! I've gone for a white and red theme this year. The tree is full of lights and lots of home-spun decs - I'm not a huge fan of tinsel and baubles so it's quite simple and Scandinavian looking.

WARNING Mum and Dad, please look away now if you don't want to spoil the Christmas day surprises.

All the presents (bar the odd one or two) are wrapped, the decs are up (apart fro the Wreath, need to find that!), Christmas dinner has been ordered from the farm (a lovely plump goose and all the trimmings), and the table has been set! :-)

Kirsty eat your heart out - I have my own Christmas ideas to share with you. I hope you like the table - the chargers were about £1 each from Sainsbury's, the napkins and table settings are a mixture of embroidered beauties I bought on ebay for less than £10, and the red candles were £1 each from Wilkinsons. On the spoons I have placed Swiss chocolate hearts wrapped in gold paper, I've put a scratch card in the crackers and trivia question cards on the table. Hopefully it should be a bit different and fun. I will probably make some favours in the week. I don't think favours should be just for weddings, I like to give my guests something nice and a bit special.

So much has happened since I last posted that I can hardly remember. Work has been just awful, but I am doing something about that now - hopefully I'll have some news in 2010 to cheer me up. We've also got a new car - we traded the Landy in as Tim was getting fed up with de-icing the inside of the windscreen every morning. The Honda is great though - went out in it today and it managed to cope with the ice on the roads. It does make me mad when you se all these tossers driving at 50 mph on icey roads. I think people think they are invincible and forget that 4x4 doesn't mean 4x as much grip, it means 4 wheels are driving but if they have nothing to grip onto then you are screwed. My car went side ways out of the lane the other day, very scary!!

Anyway, I will leave you with some pictures of the snow and hope that you have enjoyed the weekend. I'm so pleased Chris won Strictly! :-)
