What a week!

It certainly has been a roller coaster ride this week! I've had 3 very productive meetings with senior management at my work - they invited me to be completely honest about my current situation (working long hours) and have offered to help me in any way they can. I'm feeling the love, which is good! I can't go into too many details, but hopefully I will be embarking on some new challenges. :-) I'm not overly fond of the chap I work with - I find his style of working doesn't suit mine and it's not helped by the fact that I seem to speak Chinese to him (he doesn't get my jokes at all)! I used to work with someone who gave me the freedom to go off and work on my own things, but this chap wants to know my every move. I feel a little bit like this is backward step for me, especially given that I have trained him and really helped him over the last few weeks. Oh well, I'm trying to be big about it and accept the fact that I'm not going to be phoning him to see how he is and have a chat...most likely I'll be firing off very dull emails about what I have done and what needs doing with no smiley faces and no irony! IT doesn't make for a very 'happy' work environment, but hopefully this will change over the coming months.

Anyway, on to more fun things - this week sees the start of my City & Guild course in Interior Design and I'm really excited about it. It will be one evening a week, but it's a start and I'm hoping one day maybe I can freelance with my current job and be a part time interior designer. Oh I can dream! I'd really like to get some practice by helping friends and bloggers with their homes so if you are feeling brave and need some decorating ideas or simply some ideas for how to make the best use of a room, please do drop me a line and I'll do my best to help: lavenderhearts@googlemail.com

Here are some things I've been working on:

- 2 trays which I've painted blue and I will put wallpaper in the middle, probably the same old boring CK rose bloom (yes, it's not very creative is it?). I may well use a pretty vintage Laura Ashley paper that I have stashed away just so that it doesn't look too samey.

- a mirror that Tim's mum gave me, just given that a lick of blue paint and will give that to my sister for her nursery.

- Tim wouldn't let me paint the table (it was his grandparents') so I have put a pretty tablecloth from Tim's mum on there (I have trained hr well, she scours many a charity shop in Bristol for me!).

- New old chest of drawers in place.

After seeing this really rather gorgeous picture on Flikr I have an overwhelming desire for milk churns so that I can either plant some real or artificial bay trees in them and have them placed either side of the door. They look stunning don't they? I'm debating whether I should spend £22 each on 2 new ones or spend upwards of £50 each on some old ones. Oh well, that was a pleasant distraction for some slightly more difficult and pressing matters! Sometimes it's easier to focus on pretty and unnecessary things isn't it rather than the bigger picture!

Onwards and upwards, the rest of this year certainly promises to be full of new and exciting opportunities!
