Thifty finds

I took a last minute day off today because I am so run down and exhausted, over worked and under paid (I could go on, but I'll probably bore you!). I decided to have a nice lie in until 10.30am and then pop to Forest Row Antiques Centre and Nutley Antiques. OK, so the purchases might not be quite as thrifty as if I had purchased these from a car boot sale no doubt, nevertheless I am pleased. These days I am loathe to go to car boot sales and forfeit my one lie in (priceless to me! :-)) in the hope that there might be a few decent bits in amongst the tat. I like these antique shops because it's not posh antiques, they sell rustic things, vintage, new things that have been made to look old and all sorts of memorabilia. Some things can be pricey, but I like to have a good rummage and find the more reasonably priced items. Usually items that haven't been 'done up' already.

I bought this lovely old step ladder for the garden to display some pots, an old watering can, which I'm going to use as a planter, a 1930s beveled mirror, an old stool that I plan on painting and covering in oil cloth, 2 candy stripe sheets and 2 matching pillow cases, a chicken ornament (I can never pass up anything with a chicken on!), a pretty floral table cloth and 4 vintage scarves for £65. I've seen candy stripe sheets alone go for extortionate prices so when I saw this set for £10 I grabbed it! I thought the mirror was a decent price at £10 too.
