Odd jobs - edit

[New old sideboard.]

This week I've been determined to start living a little rather than just functioning. Tim has done wonders in the garden, he's had a couple of days off this week and I've been coming home and doing the odd hour too. It's looking really neat and tidy.

Still a way to go, we need to dig out the planter next to the garage, and I want to paint the front of the garage too and the door, which is currently stained in a nasty brown colour, in Cuprinol shades blue to match the front door (that will have to wait until next week now though).

The Georgian chair has been repaired and I'm half way through painting it in aged white. I've covered the seat in a Louise Loves fabric because I think it works with the style of the chair.

Tim put the pretty floral picture up in the spare room for me too.

I bought this sideboard (above) off ebay last week, we went to pick it up in the Landy and can you believe it wouldn't fit?! They very kindly delivered it for us, well they were only 15 minutes away so it wasn't too bad. I will probably paint it in a F&B greyish/white colour, not sure which one just yet. The wood is lovely mahogany, but I think it is a little bit too dark for our cottage. Tim (he has been busy!) also put up the frosting design above our door (this is not anywhere near all of the house name so I can show you). I'm so pleased with it, it all looks so tidy and welcoming now from the front.

Tomorrow I shall be heading into Brighton to meet an old work colleague (I say old, she left only 2 weeks ago but that feels like a life time in my line of work!). It will be great to catch up with her and fill her in on all the gossip.

The chair is now finished, I'm pleased with it - not bad for a free chair eh? I think it needs distressing a bit though - at the moment it looks too new and it is after all an antique chair. I have a tutorial for doing this on my other blog so do pop over if you're interested.

I've just won another thing on ebay that I'd forgotten about that's ripe for a makeover - a small cupboard, looks to be 1950s.

Hope you're having a lovely weekend!
