Mariah Carey has officially bumped up the release date for the anticipated album "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel," she has also picked Brett Ratner to give the effort an extra boost.
Originally set for release in early September, Mariah Carey's "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" will now make its way to stores and digital retailers August 25 !
Led by the buzzing single "Obsessed," (released Tuesday) Carey's new album will likely end up being historic as the multiple Grammy Award-winning diva is one hit away from beating the Beatles. According to Billboard's Hot 100, if Carey has one more no.1 hit, she will beat the Beatles record of 20 #1 hits on the chart (since 1958)
In addition to securing the release date, Carey is heating things up with long time friend/director Brett Ratner. Known for directing both "Touch My Body" and "We Belong Together" (two of Mariah's latest hits), Ratner is set to direct the steamy video for Mariah's lead single (pictured).
In a release issued Tuesday morning, Mariah stated "The 1st single from my new album MEMOIRS OF AN IMPERFECT ANGEL is called 'Obsessed' and will be at radio Tuesday. I'm a lil' exc ... Seriously, this is one of my favorite songs ever. I love the whole album. I'm completely immersed in it. I can't wait for you to hear it"
As previously reported, Carey's "Obsessed" was penned and produced by Mariah, The-Dream, and Tricky Stewart.
