Kate Winslet's Double Win at 66th Golden Globes 2009
Kate Winslet won the very first award of the night at the 66th Golden Globes in Los Angeles, picking up the best supporting actress award for her portrayal of a Nazi death camp prison guard in The Reader.
The 33-year-old actress began her speech with an apology: "You'll have to forgive me--I have a habit of not winning things," a reference to her five Oscar nominations and five Golden Globe nominations.
Later in the night, Winslet nabbed a second award, this time for best actress. Winslet started her second speech, for Revolutionary Road, by acknowledging her fellow nominees. "I'm so sorry Anne, Meryl, Kristin--Oh God, who's the other one? (Pause) Angelina! Sorry. Forgive me. OK, gather."
Winslet also thanked Revolutionary co-star Leonardo DiCaprio, whom she said she loves with all her heart and always has and then she went on to thank her husband, Revolutionary director Sam Mendes for putting them through hell, saying she loves him even more for it.
