New projects this week...

I've been working on a few things this week, I've spent a lot of time sorting through cupboards and re-organising things. As you can see on my dining room dresser, I have made some room for some of the cookery books we got for Christmas rather than putting them in the book case in my sewing room. I put up some pictures in the dining room too, what do you think?

Before

After

The coat hook was on the wall in Tim's grandparents' house, I bought it back because I could just see it being useful in my sewing room to hang bags full (I was thinking of using the CK Tesco bags) of bits n bobs on. We rescued a lot of lovely things from Tim's grand parents house (they died a few years ago). I can't wait to go to Birmingham and collect the lovely metal 1950s food safe from storage and re-paint it. There's also a small book case that will come in handy, a lovely grey chair, a captain's chair, an old Bush radio, boxes and boxes full of vintage children's books, a solid silver candle stick that is now a lamp, a large wooden mahogany lamp that is crying out to be painted, some tea sets and a Victorian side table that belonged to his great grandmother - I could go on all night but those are just a selection of the items. It's now finding the time to go and get it all and finding the storage space. The table lamps were my mum's, as you can see they were originally dark green so I have painted them pale teal.

These were the lovely things I bought from Debbie's English Treasures - look at the lovely wrapping! I love her site, it' full to the brim of gorgeous items and very reasonably priced they are too. I've bought a few things from her now and she's far too generous and always slips a little something in for me - you naughty lady!

I also got a lovely surprise from Dominique at Roses Poses. She has been a good blog friend for a while and I've always admired the way she decorates her home on a shoe string. Dominique is the sort of person you want to go thrifting with - she always finds the most amazing things at rock bottom prices! Look at what she got me, out of the blue she sent me this lovely diary and pen all wrapped up! Thank you very much indeed! :-)

I just thought I'd show you some pictures of some of the wonderful Christmas presents I got. Tim got me this bedspead from laura Ashley - he chose it himself, it was a complete surprise. You see, Tim and I never go shopping together so I can never hint at what I want. I do all the shopping myself because he hates it so much! The lovely cast iron casserole dish (just what we wanted!) is from Tim's parents, the hen biscuit container (on the dresser, see photo above) is from my parents and here are the rose pictures I bought from Debbie's site in situ!

Right, I'm about to sit down and watch another 'Darling Buds of May' (got the box set from Tim).

Happy new year to you all!
