Quick update: projects in the pipeline

I painted the little bedside table last night, it was staring out at me from by the bed and I couldn't just leave it as it was! I only put one coat of paint on the drawer fronts soyou can see the grain of the wood through it and it looks really nice (well I think so anyway!).

Rememnber the little fireplace I picked up for a mere £50 that's going in our bedroom? Well, I phoned up the sand blasting place today and asked for a quote and they told me £110. That's not bad really, but the negative is that they paint it so I kind of thought if they are going to remove the paint and then slap some more on I can just do that myself. After a bit of research (don't you just love google?!) I discovered this wonderful stuff - Klin-strip. It's a water-based product so it's not hideously toxic like Nitromors and you just slap it on painted surfaces, cover in clingfilm and then scrape off 24 hours later. I've paid £16 for 1 litre, which should be enough to do the fireplace. I'm then going to paint the insert with a black heat-resistant paint and the surround in a nice ivory eggshell.

The next big job is to remove the built in wardrobes, open up the fireplace, install it and get some new carpet! Does anyone know where we can get 2 old wardrobes fairly cheaply around Sussex, Kent and London?

Will post some photos later on.
