Well, it's been a rather productive and eventful weekend. First off We popped along to my folks on Friday night to pick up their ladder - having moved into a bungalow and only needing a step ladder to get on the roof they have kindly donated their large ladder to us saving us a few quid. We then set to work cutting back the wisteria at the front of the house which took a few hours! After we'd finished that we then tackled the front door - for the last 6 weeks with all the torrential rain and the wisteria growing in the guttering water has been pouring down the front of the house and onto the front door bubbling the paint. Tim's mum and I got the heat guns out and proceeded to scrape the paint off only to find that half the door was rotten. It then took us the rest of the day scraping out the rotten bits, painting on that wet rot hardener sanding, filling, and repairing the beading! It was exhausting and soul destrying work but has been worth it. All I could think was that I'd have to fork out hundreds for a new front door that I haven't budgeting for! Anyway, it's fine now all thanks to Tim's folks (thank you!). While we were working on the door, Tim ripped out the rotten joists and floor boards and replaced them so we now have a lovely new floor that's not collapsing!

In between waiting for the various coats of paint and fillers to dry on the door we managed to paint my little sewing room in F&B cooking apple green. I haven't yet got some curtains - I'm going to make them out of this lovely strawberry globaltex fabric.

Today we took it nice and easy and just tidied up, cleaned the chicken house and put some flag stones underneath to stop them from getting their feet all clogged up with clay.
Anyway, Tim is off for the rest of the week so he is going to finish the painting the front door and do all the drilling etc.
The door is grey at the moment after 2 coats of undercoat so I'll post pictures later in the week. I got a huge pot of Dulux Cobalt blue gloss mixed up from their Victorian paints range so we're going to use it on the garage door. It should make the front all come together nicely. :-)
