Painting projects

I've spent this weekend finishing off a few projects. We were given a metal chest by Mr's uncle, it's about the size of a blanket box and was painted in a dark grey colour. We decided to put it under the window in the sitting room so that we can store my eiderdown and his quilt that I like to wrap myself in on the sofa! I've painted it in pale green water-based eggshell paint so that it matches the pink and the green in the room.

Here is a picture of my finished bedside cabinet. Total makeover budget approx £4 for the paint, new ceramic knobs and bees wax.

I don't have any before pics, but it was just a horrible new pine cabinet with wooden handles. I painted it using Laura Ashley French grey emulsion and then sanded it down, waxed it and added the floral transfer and ceramic knobs.

I also painted this enormous wooden mirror that my mum gave me in French grey which will probably go along the wall by Mr's desk in his office - I'll post pics of this next week.

I found a dusky pink paint in the garage from the previous owners which I'm going to use to paint the chest of drawers (more horrible Ikea pine!) in the spare room (see below) - btw the hideous brown wall will be gone by next week and replaced with pale pink!

Speaking of which, what do you think of my lovely new curtains. They are vintage French and I got them on ebay. They fit perfectly and I'm really pleased with them.

The other half has the week off so he's going to do all the odd jobs like painting the spare room, sitting room, raising the bricks at the front, fixing the garage door, and building a log store for the wood burning stove. He announced yesterday that he wants to sell his Vespa and use the money to buy a Land Rover Discovery that we can run on biodiesel. I'm so excited because it means that we can actually fit things in a car, take trips to the dump, buy big bits of furniture at auction etc without having to rely on having things delivered. He's going to have a look at one tomorrow, I'm so excited! hehe

If you would like to join in with the "random act of kindness" let me know and I'll add you to the list. You can send something no matter how big or small to whoever you like and whenever you like. I will probably post mine early next week. :-)
