Goodies and the view from my kitchen window(s)

I bought lots of goodies today in QS of all places. I got a green apron for £2, two pretty floral storage boxes for £5, a set of four floral tea towels, a perfect green, blue and cream stripey rug for £6 to go in my kitchen to match my new eau de nil painted cupboards, and a Cath Kidston-like double bed clothes set for £8.

Speaking of my kitchen it's coming along nicely, I've been buying matching accessories and we'll soon have new oak block worktop for the side by the kettle. One day I'd like to get terracotta floor tiles, oak block worktop throughout, a belfast sink, and move the boiler and replace it with a range cooker but there are other more pressing things that need doing at the moment.

Here is little Rosie mitten as I like to call her sleeping in her favourite place!

Now, I was tagged by The Fairy Glade a while ago - here's for the view from my kitchen windows...the first window looks over at the garage so not much of a view, but there are some roses on the trellis. Then there's a little window at the side that looks out on the garden. Like a lot of old houses, the kitchen doesn't have enormous windows and that whole 'open plan family kitchen dining experience' that all these tv shows tell us we all want (I for one don't want that!), but it's very cute and I spend most of my time looking out of the door in the utility room to se if the hens are ok and watch the birds.

We've been doing lots of gardening of late. We think we must have about 50 different varieties of clematis, 100s of roses, honeysuckle, loads of floxgloves, peonies...it's so lovely to sit out in the garden and admire the beauty of it all, we really are very lucky that the previous owner was such a talented gardener.

One thing we haven't been able to do just yet is cut the Wisteria back because we have birds nesting but we tidied up the front and Mr is going to build up the bricks at the front so that we have more of a curb (should be an afternoon job) - at the moment any runoff goes into the front of the house and the side, and it's causing damp.

Now then, I would like to see the view from: Ragged Roses, Lace Threads, and All things shabby chic's kitchen window.

I made this bird house a while ago it was inspired by Ragged Roses' lovely bird house. I used some pretty tissue paper and painted over it in uPVA glue so that it's waterproof and then painted the roof with Cuprinol shades paint.

P.s, I know it says I'm doing the 'Lets go on vacation - 26th June' but I'll do it tomorrow - lets just say I missed the flight! ;-)

P.p.s, I have just found out that Mr's wonderful mum has gone and got me those Cath Kidston shopping bags, what a lovely lady! :-)
