I didn't get round to making the curtains this weekend. The other half is off to the US for work for a week on Tuesday so I thought I'd make the curtains while he's away. We did have a rather productive weekend though, on Saturday we cleaned and tidied the house and today we got rid of all our bubble wrap , card and empty boxes at the recycling place, bought a tumble dryer (a luxury that I never thought I'd ever have room to have!) and got some new house phones. I also discovered a new way of going to work which should shave off about 15 mins and 10 miles off my 1.5 hour commute! On the way home we spotted a lovely antiques shop in Ardingly and thought we'd pop in, we ended up buying a lovely iron umbrella stand and 2 old fashioned irons for £30.
As for the fire basket, it wasn't until we moved here that it occurred to us that we should have checked with the previous owners what they were going to do with the fire basket - they took it with them! Anyway, my mum told me they cost hundreds of pounds and we were thinking "oh christ, another expense we hadn't bargained on!!". Nutley Antiques to the rescue! We bought one in there that fits perfectly and cost us £38!
