Spangled with celebrities, the trailer and official website of ‘Siruthai’ was launched yesterday at Sathyam Cinemas. Actor Suriya, filmmakers Gautham Menon and Lingusamy were the guests of honor as they embellished the event with some interesting speeches. Tamannah, Parthiban, Shanmugam, SP Muthuraman, A Jagannathan, Prabhu Solomon, Subash C Bose, Anbu Chezhian, Vijay, Rajeevan, cameraman Velraj were the other celebrities present for the occasion.

The film’s power-packed trailer showcasing different avatars of Karthi as a funny chiseler and tough cop turned to be a big treat for Karthi’s fans. Couple of songs – ‘Naan Nalla Pilla’ (pictured on Karthi and Santhanam) and ‘Vaa Chellam’ with Karthi and Thamannah were screened as well. The songs and the trailer received a tremendous ovation from the audience.
S.P. Muthuraman called back the humble gesture of Suriya during the felicitation ceremony of lyric writer Vaali and praised Sivakumar-Lakshmi for having brought up their sons with good values.
The Showstopper
‘Showstopper’ can be the perfect term of Parthiban as the special invitees and celebrities were enthralled watching him in silk shirt and dhoti. Karthi himself was spellbound over the appearance of Parthiban as he said, “Even I would come up with the same costumes.”
Thamannah remained as the cynosure of everyone’s eyes her cherubic looks in blue sari was stunning.
The brothers
What was interesting to see is the reaction of the crowd when the names were called. If Suriya got a loud reception from the crowd, they made the roof fall down when Karthi’s name was announced. It made a lot of people wonder and praise the achievements of Karthi in his short film career to match with his brother’s.
Director Raja threw light on the world’s most successful brothers – Lumiere Brothers (Inventors of Cinema), Wright Brothers (Airplane), Mark Waugh-Steve Waugh (Cricketers) and added Suriya-Karthi into this bandwagon. “I’m an ardent admirer of brothers excelling in various arenas. Certainly Suriya and Karthi have earnestly contributed a lot to the film industry, thereby making producers and distributors happy”, totted up Raja.
Gautham Menon – a man of few words said, “Dhool is my most favorite commercial flick till date and now I’m sure Siruthai will replace it now. I go by the words of Raja as I admire these brothers. Hope my three children too share a good bonding as these brothers Suriya-Karthi”.
Gautham to direct Suriya and Karthi
Lingusamy popped up on his instant idea of making a film together with Suriya, Karthi and Gautham Menon. Said Lingusamy, “Just now I expressed my wish of working together with Gautham Menon, Suriya and Karthi. Well, if everything goes well in future I would write a script and want Gautham to direct Suriya and Karthi”.
Music director Vidyasagar remarked producer Gnanavel Raja’s smart tactics of screening just couple of songs to heighten the curiosities of audiences.
I’m Siruthai’s PRO: Suriya
Suriya couldn’t stop praising music director Vidyasagar. “Your songs animate my energy and keep me away from exhaustion levels during workouts”, said Suriya. On appraising his brother’s involvement into this project, he said, “Everyone loves having pictures of their parents, wife or girlfriend in their mobiles. But for the past one year, Karthi has the Ravi Teja’s ‘Vikramakudu’ image as his wallpaper. He has been deeply inhaling his traits so as to do justice to the two different roles”.
Commenting on Karthi and director Siva, Suriya said that he found great difficulty in changing his personality and body language from being a tough cop in Kaakha Kaakha to a lungi-wearing jail accused in Pithamagan. Lauding director Siva’s efforts in extracting the best out of Karthi in this movie, he said, “I’m a proud brother to see Karthi do two such intense roles in Siruthai. I cannot help but tell all my industry friends about how good the movie would be. I can call out loud that I’m the PRO of this movie”.
Two IPS officers from same family
Letting his tongue on Tamannah’s success graph, Suriya uttered that she isn’t successfully out of charm or luck, but for her hard work. Suriya recollected the shooting of ‘Ayan’ that had a toilsome situation for both of them under the heavy rain. Says Suriya, “Even I started shivering unable to bear the cold but Tamannah was keen on getting the shot with perfection”.
Cinematographer Velraj acclaimed that if ‘Singam’ pounced at 8ft, ‘Siruthai’ will swoop across 16ft and concluded saying that proud to see both IPS officers (considering the roles of Suriya in ‘Singam’ and Karthi in ‘Siruthai’) are hailing from the same family.
